Here's my idea. Instead of getting remakes of Sapphire and Ruby, We get remakes of Blue and Emerald. They are paired versions. Emerald Remake taking place in Hoenn, while Blue Remake taking place in Kanto. These games will be done in beautiful 3D and some towns and areas will be changed to better suit 3D. These games are also sequels to their originals. They take place around the same time as XY if not a little earlier. Kanto and Hoenn DO NOT get their regional dexes changed. The unavailable Pokemon are found in the Regional Safari zone. Which can only be used post game. The people in your friend list will determine which pokemon appear in your safari. Everyday the game uses their friend codes to calculate what Pokemon will be there. Mega Stones cannot be found in either region. Only bought from specific vendors throughout the game. Getting the Mega Ring is a side plot.
In Kanto: You start in Vermillion City. The small trainer mega stone is found in Diglett's Cave. It's a key item until you end up meeting an old merchant in Mt.Moon. He challenges you to a battle like other NPCs. But after, you win he comments on how he feels a strong force coming from you and asks if you know what Mega Evolution is. No matter how you reply, he tells you that the gem you found was a stone that goes in a Mega Ring to allow your Pokemon to mega evolve. He sells you a Mega Ring for 100,000.
In Hoenn: You start out in EverGrande City. Which is actually a city in this game. The Pokemon League is located in the city. But you are denied access to it. Your Father and Mother both work at the Pokemon Center. Your Father works at the TM Corner at the Pokemart. While your Mother is the Nurse. Your friend and you want to begin your Pokemon journey. So your father decides he'll take you to the Pokemon Lab in Littleroot Town. So he escorts you through Victory Road. He lets you pick what moves to use when you encounter wild Pokemon. There are no trainers in Victory Road.
