Hey /vp/, I'm rather new to competitive battling, and I had this question for you guys. There are some Pokemon that I love much more un-evolved and I was wondering if that has any negative effect on them if you choose not to evolve them?

Chansey, Slowpoke, Porygon-2, Dusclops, pikachu, Rhydon or Scyther are viable with the right items in their grasp

Well they obviously have lower base stat total so that's negative for sure. The are a couple of Pokemon (mainly Dusclops and Chansey) that are better than their evolved forms when holding Eviolite. If you want to use NFE Pokemon, you should play on lower tiers in Showdown. Eviolite Gurdurr for example is extremely viable in NU (I'm using one and it's one of my best Pokemon) and Eviolite Wartortle is also fairly common, usually as a spinner.

If you play in tiers (so basically, if you ever play with strangers, ever) then some of the lower tiers will have NFE Pokemon. You're more than welcome to try them in a standard match, but you'll probably get smashed. You should see if you can't get some NU/PU players to battle with. It's a pretty fun tier.

Most of them are crap, say like Ivysaur or Snubbull, but those who got an evolution on another generation are pretty good on their own. I mean Rhydon, Chansey, even Murkrow. They work different from their evolved forms, like Chansey with Eviolite is a sturdier tank. Murkrow with Prankster as an annoyer statuser, and so on.
