I know what Instacheck is, and I can't say I would ever do it myself, I was just confused when he said that one has his OT. Unless he has two copies of the game, and managed to match the eggs like that, shouldn't it be impossible to have the OT as yours? Is there a known method for chain fishing and guaranteeing something about its stats/nature? I technically could use a synchronizer, but I can't seem to get a shiny via this method under a chain of at least 100... so I'd definitely not last long enough without suction cups.

I don't think there's any way to guarantee stats while fishing/catching in the wild. Syncro is only 50% for nature, too, but it's better than nothing.

Aw. I'm making a for-fun shiny team, but at the same time, I don't want them to be COMPLETE shit with both terrible IVs AND terrible natures.

Some people have a lot of luck with it.

I don't.

For a while I thought that it might have just been a myth that caught on by pure coincidence due to a few people out of thousands getting a shiny by doing this and spreading the rumor further.

The first took 150+ to result in a shiny. The second took 300+. My thumbs were really sore by the end of it.

Also, based on my results, the rumor about a higher chain resulting in better IVs is false. If a 300+ chain can't result in something with a few maxed IVs, nothing will.

Safari hunting for a quilladin over two safaris. Over 5 days I have two sunkerns, a sawsbuck, a pansage and an ivysaur. So one of everything but quilladin.

I can see why people compare the rates to MM'ing. It seems about the same, but the overall process is faster because I can encounter 2-3 mons a minute

Yeah, that's basically how I got the vast majority of them. I MMed an Abra while trying to get Synchronizers.

So I have a Sneasel, Ponyta, Sawk, Mankey, and Spiritomb I obtained there.

Trying to trade off the Sawk for something else atm. Want to finish off my team with a Gyarados. I have two Magikarp, but I'm going for another because their natures/IVs are really out of sync with what a Gyarados should have... or are just generally terrible.

It's not leeching if you also breed so that other anons get eggs. You seem bitter. I was at first too, as I have MM'd for COUNTLESS hours. This method is actually very useful for people to get shiny pokemon without having to sacrifice too much time.

How easy is it for players to find others who can give them eggs that will hatch into shiny Pokemon? Given all the math involved and the odds, I can't imagine it is easy to find someone who can breed stuff for you. If I'm wrong on that though, I might swap over to that approach instead.

Are you sure? From Bulbapedia: "While the standard encounter rate for a Shiny Pokémon (either in the wild or by breeding) is 1/8192". Either way, I'm really happy! 107 eggs without Masuda, it's also my first shiny hatch.

I chained all day for this beauty. I was worried about a few things; namely, the IV spread, the nature, and the color of its flower. (even in a patch of blue flowers, orange Flabebes can appear, though I wouldn't mind much if I had found a white one instead)

Even though my Calm Synchronize Kirlia failed to do its thing, the Flabebe turned out Timid, which is better than something like Adamant I suppose, and the IV spread is also really great for a wild encounter (16 / 27 / 31 / 29 / 28 / 20)

a few weeks ago, i found a shiny raltz completely out of random luck when breeding some raltz, i tried to take a picture of it, derped hard like a dumbass and accidentally the game without saving.

after that i got an ok japanese wobbofet and went and did THIRTY TWO boxes of raltz, NOTHING

so i said fuck it, if i'm gonna do this, i'm gonna do this well

took a break, made a fairy team for shits and giggles (gardevoir included, so now i have good breeding parents)

today i got a bitch-ass pimpin' mexican to get his spanish game, take 2 of my perfect ralts, and breed me a 5IV parent.

now i got the shit ready to roll, a box and half later of masuda, and this pops up

that's a 31 X0XXXX IV, trace, female, modest, shiny ralts. masuda can suck my small penis.

Slightly less, I'd say, but not completely devalued. A shiny's a shiny. And chain fishing can still be a huge pain in the neck because a single chain can go on for hundreds of encounters if you're not lucky.

Treat that Clawitzer well. It looks pretty good in red.

I personally think fish chaining's the easiest way to get shinies. Nothing exact about the rates, but some people have gotten one as low as 8 encounters.

It's best that you lead with someone with Suction Cups (Inkay and Octillery), since that means you can chain fish any where, not just the spots surrounded by rocks.

Eh, I just like keeping my options open, I'm more going for 31 IVs in HP, I found a genuine penta-perfect Japanese male on GTS and I bred my first hexa-perfect female with Gooey after hours of breeding. I'm thinking that an Armoured Goodra w/Flamethrower will be able to give M-Mawile or Outrage Garchomp some real trouble. My Goodra was devastating in the game, and my only real trouble was physical attacks directed against it. In some odd way, I guess I kinda like MMing as well.

Finally hatched a usable Flabebe. HP, Def, Sp.atk and S.Def white flower in a premier ball. 80 boxes is my best estimate. Were you using both destiny knot and a power item?

Also, sometimes the same stat can be chosen from both parents, this pretty much means you're only passing on 4 IVs, and one of the IVs chosen might've been the opposite parent's Power Item'd IV, which gets ignored in favor of the correct IV.

So far, my speedy MMs have been with matching pairs. My Zoroark got a hot Spanish girlfriend and made blue Zoruas at 2 and ~60 eggs, and my Mawile and her Man from Japan made a shiny in 7 eggs.

Man, I've been working so hard with chaining to get shiny pokemon, but I feel they are worthless now because not all of them have great natures of IV's, which you can get with instacheck. I wonder if it's even worth it to hunt for them anymore or if anybody will truly want them. It's not like I have anything personal against instacheck, I just feel kind of down. Still MMing Binacle, to no success.
The parents are now at level 86.
I have no idea how many eggs I've hatched.
I have now opened up a third box for 5-6 IV rejects, even though I'm releasing anything that isn't shiny or potentially flawless on sight.
This after giving up on Honedge and Froakie after more than a dozen boxes of each.
Are you guys sure that you can hatch Shinies? Because it feels like I'm being rused here.

Well, I was already going to distribute them with Pokerus and berries around Christmas. And I've never Wondertraded a Shitmon. And I returned a Shiny Axew that someone traded me once.
I am grateful that I have not encountered a shiny of a Pokemon that I hate. I am grateful that I have only encountered one shiny in a Battle Facility, and less than a dozen in times that I didn't have any Pokeballs. I am grateful that I have only lost all of my shinies and the carts that contained them while riding the bus once. And I am grateful that I have never known the suffering of the Combee guy.
I'm also a fan of Dragon Quest, and I am grateful that Game Freak does not screw over its own IPs in foreign markets like a certain other JRPG developer seems to love doing.

If the parents have 5IVs each, the minimum can be 2 missing I think, so if they're missing 4, you have to have 4 IV parents.
