>>16247962>Hydro Pump...Yeah, excuse me if I laugh at you for a few years.
They nerfed it, but you know what... it shouldn't matter.
I personally never use Fire Blast, Hydro Pump, Solarbeam, or Thunder. Mostly because they're outclassed in their own right by far more superior and tactically more advantageous skills.
My Greninja runs with Scald as it's main water attack. Extrasensory, Toxic Spikes, and Substitute... because it works for my intentions.
Scald is a much more superior weapon against opponents since it can deal damage, and have a chance for burning the opponent.
Hydro Pump is much stronger, but has a lower accuracy (which makes it a touch more unreliable in battle) and gives little else aside from damage alone.
Damage alone is fine, but damage plus added effects are far more tasty in my opinion.
Paralysis affects speed, burn affects attack.
There is more to them than that, but I wanted to illustrate that those effects weaken the enemy.
If used appropriately, it can give you a nice advantage in battle.
STAB for STAB is important in it's own right. Strong attackers should use strong attacks, especially if they can use them with the Choice items.
However, Greninja has a lot of speed which gives him more of an advantage to swiftly move in, hop between typings and weaken the enemy, then hop out without much difficulty.
I dunno, I may not be using him properly, but that is just something I have noticed.
