So, what do you guys do to counter this fucker? Assume Prankster, Taunt, Will-O-Wisp, Recover, Foul Play, 252 EVs in HP and 128 in Def and SpD each, and leftovers. Hard Mode:No fire or fairy mons. Any competent sableye runner will switch out against them immediately with their own counter anyways. God-tier Mode: You can only choose from your current team's movepool. No ubers. Also, general counter strategies thread.

I can either will-o-wisp you, foul play you for anywhere between 50-100+% damage depending on EVs, then either recover the next turn assuming I will-o-wisp for maximum stallage or try foul play again and hope the RNG gods are with me. Try again.

Also, isn't Foul Play actually worse when you use WoW?
Also, Heatran just reks it.

The only two factors you use of theirs are base attack and boosts.

>Guts Flame Orb Conkeldurr with payback who resists foul play >Toxic Orb Gliscor with Fling+Acrobatics For the sake of things, if you can't toxic/burn stall me and you can't do substantial damage with foul play, you can't really do anything at all and I can PP stall your recovers.

>>16257795 Not too shabby. I'd probably switch out to my bulky Gardevoir to counter Conkeldurr as soon as things get messy, and Defensive Blastoise/Lapras in the case of Gliscor, but it'll probably have been too late for Sableye in that case. Good job.
>>16257964 252 SpA Mega Gengar Dazzling Gleam vs. 252 HP / 128 SpD Sableye: 134-158 (85.3 - 100.6%)
I'm doing these at level 50 btw, at level 100 the damage was 83.5-98.6%. Not bad, though. I should probably put a focus thingy instead of leftovers on this guy then.

>>16260343 I understand your frustration, but sableye is a special case here. Do you really think I'd keep it out against smogonbirde/flamechicken/stickburd while I'm running will-o-wisp staller? Fuck no. Any other pokemon that can learn Brave Bird are inferior to those two, so nobody runs them, and thus they're not something I should reasonably expect to counter.
>>16260438 Sableye has prankster, gliscor don't. If I use taunt as my first move then you're fucked.

I can't see any situation I would switch sableye on an absol when running any other mon on my team, so pursuit probably isn't a good counter.

I run a Sableye, best way to take it out is with a strong special attacker that resists Foul Play, especially if the special attacks have hax effects like BRN or PSN. One of my friends runs Magnezone and it forces my Sableye out.
