I think you're missing the point of what Anon said. People with foreign games usually don't already have what you need, nor do they want to spend time breeding it. All you need to do is find someone with a foreign game and give them 5 IV parents to breed. They will then trade the offspring back to you. Finally got my 6 IV Modest male HA Yawn/Assist Espurr for breeding. Pairing that with my 4 IV HA Jap. female. Hope Masuda's favor shines down on me!

Also, Fluffy's rocking the Kabuki cut for the next couple days. In my opinion Kabuki looks better shiny than regular, but Pharaoh looks better regular than shiny. And La Reine is still my favorite.

I've been trying ever since the beginning to catch a shiny Inkay sice forever. Chains always gets broken early, couldn't find a Pokemon to Masuda method, and I'm always left with horrible IV's. Seeing my friends get shinies left and right in the safari left me with a bad taste in my mouth with my shitty luck.

I guess fortune was finally favoring me today after 300 hours of no shinies. Got a perfect IV Japanese Dratini from Wonder Trade so I decided to breed it with my Inkay.

2 eggs later....a shiny Inkay. 4 Max IV's Jolly nature and outstanding ability. Whether or not I use this on my team, I'm glad the monkey's off my back for now.

Actually, no. It just resets the shaking patches. Simply walk 50 steps without walking into a shakign patch and reset, and you'll get another round of shaking patches. It does not interrupt the chain.

In fact, it's heavily recommended you do this after the 40th encounter, since running into more Pokemon is no longer necessary.

I was hatching for an Adamant 31/31/31/x/31/31 Snorunt with Moody(so of course, I've hatched ones with that spread and OTHER abilities, or Moody with other combinations of 5 31 IVs)

The Father is Japanese, and lo and behold after what was probably 2-3 boxes(I release all that aren't moody with 4-5 IVs, or have others with 5 IVs immediately) and got a Shiny FEMALE Snorunt. Unfortunately, its ability is Inner Focus, and only has 31 Ivs in Atk and Sp.Def.

Okay, Masuda, looks like you win. You successfully got me to waste tons of time on this. I simply can't go on. I admit defeat. I am not as strong as Combee guy.

I have about a box and half more eggs left to hatch though, so maybe, just maybe, there'll be a miracle. I'm not gonna hold my breath though.

Oh well, at least the first one I hatched was Modest and had perfects IVs in everything but attack and special defense. I'm sure he'll become a bro, but unfortunately, he'll always remind me of my failure.

I'm not even upset that I have to use a male. I'm upset that I actually hatched 85 boxes trying to get a female, with no pay-off.

I still plan on MMing a Flabebe later.

And no, none of the Ralts are for trade yet.

It depends on your play style. I like to hatch while browsing the internet, so gathering a lot of eggs and then riding in circles for a long time just feels easier. Occasionally I did switch to the method you're using though.

Also, I'd rather have Lumiose City as the met location.

I was going to breed a utility Smeargle that I'd just use for any catching/money making I needed, however, I wanted to make it shiny just cause I like the color scheme. I know how the method works, but I'm curious is it more effective to do it with Pokemon with two different countries than my own, or will the odds remain the same if I use my own country's Smeargle and a foreign ditto/Smeargle.

Are you using repels?
Are you leading with a low level fainted synchro/cc that might ruin your repels?
Are you staying away from edges?
Are you resetting your radar if there's no suitable patches?
Are you only aiming for strong shaking patches?
Are you moving at least 4 spaces from your last encounter/radar reset?
Are you making sure to not stray too far when resetting your radar?
Are you sure you're aiming at high shaking patches or are you getting impatient and aiming for mediums?

I Dont think anyone knows for sure, but I have caught more shinies in X and Y than I have seen in all previous games combined, and almost all of them came from FS.
And have said a few times on /vp/, just before Halloween I caught 8 within a 48 hour period.

I haven't been that lucky since, but it does feel like the rates are increased.

I had the same problem, too. I'd get into the 30’s and then for some reason my fucking eyes couldn't tell the difference. I decided to IV breed anyway, so it worked out.

Got loads of shinies from gts in 2 hours of searching : a bad lv 82 relaxed hawlucha for Y, a calm female ha espurr for X, a hasty chlorophyll oddish for thunderbird, a houndour for moltres and a timid rotom for an articuno, I'm feeling pretty lucky (but I'll need to farm legends)

You use some external software to check hidden numbers in the game. Shinyness is determined by some calculation with a pokemon's individual ID and a trainer's ID, so insacheck tells you those and lets you match them up so you trade eggs to other players, they hatch it as shiny and hopefully trade it back.

So pretty much it allows people to cheat and force things to be shiny without any effort or using any of the games intended methods for attempting to find a shiny, is why people look down on it.

I haven't done any serious breeding in a long time, someone tell me if I'm doing this right.

Going for shiny mightyena with Play Rough and Poison Fang and an Adamant nature. Right now I have a 4IV male with those criteria and I'm having a bitch of a time tracking down a foreign female from friend safari. I could try for a comparable female to breed with a foreign male but even though XY females can pass egg moves now I've yet to see one actually do it for me.

Should I just try to get my hands on a foreign ditto?

If I were you I'd keep breeding until I had a 6 IV mom. Females do pass down egg moves now, meaning you can use any male from the Field group to breed. You won't find any foreign Pokémon in FS, you'll need to trade for one. Look on the GTS for a male foreign Eevee or anything else from the Field group, it's easier to trade for something like that with 4-5 perfect IV's than a foreign Ditto with more than 2 perfect IV's.

I've bred several females with egg moves and not had the moves pass down, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I was under the impression it was random, and I'd hate to get my shiny and have it not have the moves I want. Is this not the case?

I never had my baby Mawiles pass down Play Rough. All my Goomy babies have Acid Armour and Counter (egg moves), but they also have Muddy Water and Dragon Pulse as well. I was suprised.
