You are entirely dependent on the program, as the program does all the work and without it you have no way of knowing the TSV for future eggs.
That's what's different. You are using a program to gain access to knowledge you wouldn't be able to see otherwise. Heck you know all the IVs and HP of the Eggs too, stuff you wouldn't be able to see without the program.
