So obviously if I want to play competitively I'll be using the best of my favorite pokemon. I won't generally use a Glaceon just because I like it, I'll use it if I like it AND it's good.

I feel like half the people in this thread don't know what I'm talking about cause I worded it wrong. I was directing it towards the people who all use the same 10 pokemon just because they are smogonterial even though they don't like em. If you genuinely like em, then fine. If you like legendaries, so be it.

The metagame hasn't even stabilized yet. Smogon has absolutely nothing to do with people using the same Pokemon.

Jesus Christ,, even the Japanese use things like Talonflame. People know what's good. Smogon doesn't need to tell them.

Virtually all the pokemon in OU have interesting designs and unique appeal beyond their battle prowess.

Game Freak takes Karen's words to heart and fights with their favorites, it's just that their favorites always have really good coverage, typing, and abilities.

I love Qwilfish but its simply outclassed by Tentacruel and would get stomped against alot of shit

Sometimes I'll use Pokemon I don't like, but have great synergy to support my bros.

Most of the time, I'd have a bunch of trick-roomers that I didn't particularly like, like Reuniclus and Dusclops, but allowed me to sweep with Exeggcutor and Golurk.
