Never encountered a shiny aside from the mandatory red gyarados. If it weren't for the ones I see in the GTS I might as well think the entire world is bullshitting me.

A buddy of mine had never seen a shiny either, and was restarting his game to do a wonderlocke run. I looked through his boxes, turns out the Lapras that the guy gave to him was a shiny, and he had never bothered to check it.

I promise you that if you grind hordes as EV training rather than using super-training, you WILL encounter a shiny.

The most common shinies on the GTS aside from fishing shinies are horde shinies.

My first ever shiny I encountered was during ev training using hordes. Thing was it was a horde of geodudes all with magnitude so you can imagine how nerve wracked I was. Superior potential overall with the wrong nature but it was in a premier ball so it's ok I guess.

I found a shiny Smoochum while EV training in the Vanillite hordes in the Frost Cavern. It has the wrong ability and nature but 3 perfect IVs, so I might train it.

I don't know. I haven't bothered to check any of them. They're all on my Black 2 cartridge, because I haven't picked up X or Y yet, and I've just been focusing on MM-ing a shiny before checking any of them.

I had never encountered a shiny before today and hadn't really expected to. My 12-year-old niece was watching me chain for shiny Gothorita, asked if she could try and I let her because there wasn't any reason not to. Within maybe 20 encounters she found it.

I don't understand. She was literally going to all the grass patches that are supposed to break your chain, and she still found it in about 15 minutes. What have I been doing wrong?
