I think I have figured it out.
The hexagonal shape is blue when you aquired the pokemon in x/y, otherwise I think it will be grey.
So every pokebank'd mon will have a grey hexagon and therefore not viable online, except maybe unrated battles.

I think that you can breed pokebank'd mon though, and their offspring viable again.
That would make sense, since you can't either breed or use legendaries anyway
