Why is it so hard to play Pokémon with friends? All I want to do is have fun making teams to test out on each other without any of this bad blood.

I've been playing since gen 4, but my friends have only gotten truly competitive recently. Thing is, I know they can get better with experience...but they just refuse to play me. On top of that, they don't play with many other people either...

I just wish they'd swallow their pride and battle for the fun of it, getting better as they go.

That would be great, but it's so hard to meet people who play Pokémon competitively in real life. I got both of these friends into it because they were already my friends and played it casually a lot anyway, so it was like opening a new door for them.

When we get together to play Pokemon, we don't all have EV/IV trained teams, but we just play against each other for the fun of it. In fact, one of my friends is a total karenfag with 3 fire types on his team and he managed to beat the "competitive" player once partly from luck, but also from sheer "seriously does this guy really have these movesets what is he even doing".

With anything that involves winning or losing, the key is to not play with butthurt people but also not to be an ass yourself. Seems obvious really.

Sounds great to have a set of friends like that, I'm not sure I'd be so lucky though. Everytime I meet new people who are into Pokémon, they never want to battle or are total casuals.

I'm pretty sure I'm not an ass about it anyway, I always make excuses to why I win after the battle...saying it was a bad matchup or I would have lost if this had happened. Sometimes it works and I get a rematch a couple of days later...

The thing is, I enjoy 6vs6 Singles the most. And I can't even play that randomly online. Maybe I'll just have to get more into 3vs3 or 4vs4 doubles or something.
