It's much more useful on a team as a special tank rather than physical. Being able to burn physical attackers is more than enough defensive bulk for it and running it Bold just to check Talonflame even harder is a waste considering there's plenty of other mons out there that do it just as well, if not better.

Talonflame should only be a threat if you're running a bunch of glass cannons.

I personally think Heat is overlooked because of its SR weakness, but that additional immunity to burn helps it fit into teams just as well as Wash.

For me it's because you can pretty much slap it on any team.

Also it has the best elemental(?) attack out of the rotom forms.
I would probably use heat form too if it had Fireblast instead of Overheat.

Mow is middling. It obviously has more weaknesses than Wash and Heat, but grass is an often overlooked attacking type, as evidenced by Wash's dominance right now.

If nothing else, it makes a good Wash counter.

People lose when they use it because more often than not they think it's strong enough to stay out on things that clearly counter it. And if they're dumb enough to keep it out after revenge killing, they're dumb enough to lose the battle.

Priority Brave Bird is no joke, no one is arguing that, but the thing only has 86 Attack.

Oh no, I do run Lanturn all the time and he does tank hits well and has a better movepool than Rotom-W. That weakness to Earthquake means he can't stay in on Ground type enemies though and his offenses and speed aren't high enough to force a switch unless they fear a burn from Scald.

Lanturn is actually a decent check to Rotom. Neither one of them can particularly damage each other, but it's guaranteed an easy switch every time it sees Rotom-W.

As it stands, The only thing that resists both it's stabs are Rock-types that it shouldn't be staying in against anyways.

Course Brave Burd from talonflame is the strongest damage in the game, beating out scizor's by about 20k damage raw.

This anon has the moveset down, but you can also run hydro pump /Thunder if you feel like you need the extra damage and are willing to take the risk. Volt Switch is key, and following up with wish support is fantastic on him to keep him in the game longer but can do well without it. Obviously as Anon pointed out, you do lose some fantastic things you can do with normal Lanturn sets, but it's nothing to scoff at, and will surprise the hell out of your opponents if you play your cards right.

Basically it's the optimal Option for Water in the FWG core, in the same manner that Ferrothorn is the optimal Grass for FWG core, and Heatran is the optimal Fire for FWG core.

It's not entirely about resisting it. Like I said, it's stats are slightly lower than average. As long as you're running at least something with any sort of bulk, it's not doing much except either switching out or trying to do as much damage as it can before getting swatted away.

But if you do want straight type advantages, Heatran, Aggron (M-Aggron moreso), Rotom-H, and Rotom-W all wall T.Pain. And how many of those are already OU and on most teams, as evidenced by the OP complaining about it every day?

It's attack being slightly lower than average doesn't mean much.

Brave Burd+Flare Blitz are stab backed by 120 base power. It's hard for them to not hit solidly when not resisted.

Furthermore, with 126 base speed, you don't need to necessarily use brave burd to outspeed.

Basically, it's movepool means it can do well against a large chunk of things outside of some raw stats or resistance of dual stabs.

As for what you listed:

Rock, though the steel turns off resistance of flare blitz and he actually is surviving through sheer bulk those brave burds. Point still stands of 'It's a rock, don't fucking stay in on it because it will kill you D-E-D"

And yes, I listed those other 3 because two are among the most common Pokemon in OU and are on a majority of teams right now. T.Pain's niche lies in its ability to revenge kill, but it can't exactly do that when 90% of teams are running one or both of these chucklefucks.

It's not NU material, but once the novelty wears off, Talonflame will probably be BL.

Unique as it is, I hope we get a new evolution to Doublade with a more conventional ability in the future. I used Doublade and Honedge a lot during my playthrough but after evolving it I sort of avoided using Aegislash, it just wasn't really fun for me to use. There's still Eviolite Doublade I guess since Doublade has some relatively respectable stats in its own right.
