So, this exists. How does VP feel about this kind of cheating? Personally, I think its pretty low and if you need this software to win games, you should feel bad. Not sure if Game Freak or Nintendo can release a patch for this even.

Doubt GF will take the time to fix it. Maybe if they did something with how the move chosen was sent. Waiting until both users choose. Then it would make the software useless.

The only way to counter I guess is to wait until there's literally 1 sec left on the decision timer or something before you make your move.

Basically what I was going to say. Just wait until the last second so they can't counter pick. Still, they know your move pool before hand. Even without knowing what you choose, having that knowledge makes it really easy to guess. Especially on Pokes that aren't used quite as often. Really the best way to counter it is to set up your match before hand and not go into a random setting. Reduces the odds a bit.

They probably won't fix it, but it doesn't hurt to make your voice heard anyway. Send Nintendo a complaint. On the off chance they can release a patch.

In the meantime, the guy who made Instacheck is working on a scrambler, so until GF pushes out a patch, you can use that instead.

Yes, it is technically. Any external device is classified as cheating, though instacheck does so to a lesser degree.

What I find most shocking about this isn't that some guy decided to cheat or publically release his hack, but the fact that none of the data it displays was encrypted at all in any way. Nintendo/ GF couldn't have made it any easier to cheat if they tried.

Instacheck looks innocent compared to this. One is making it easier to get shinies, the other is giving an inexcusable advantage in battle.

This doesn't mean I think Instacheck isn't cheating.

I honestly think the game was rushed. 3DS sales were below Nintendo's expected numbers. My guess is that GameFreak was pressured by Nintendo to release the next Pokemon gen sooner than they wanted in hopes that 3DS sales would spike this holiday season, which they did thanks to Pokemon. It may sound kind of like a conspiracy theory, but it does explain the numerous examples of bad coding and the lacking number of new Pokemon among other things. Game Freak should have learned most of their glitch lessons since the days of Red and Blue. X and Y are good games, don't get me wrong, but it still feels like it was lacking a lot of what the community expected.
