>>16335153Let's just say that for actual hackers, the GTS has joke security by design. Since there is no shared secret between the game and the GTS server, there are a number of attacks (i.e. hacks) you cannot really prevent. (And I don't think local trading uses any kind of checks...)
Of course, the people to whom hacking such systems is easy have better stuff to do than cheating at Pokémon. But in the end, it seems just like a question of effort, not possibility.
>>16335154>Really? Because I need actual examples before believing your statements. It's actually the basic concept of computer networks: Your message is delivered via lots of different machines in between, and all of them need to read it. For example, your 3DS will send all of its messages through your w-lan router and every messages it receives come through the router as well. The only trick is now to tell actually have a look at the messages when passing them on. For example, when you load this webpage and see my post in your browser, my post will have been in your router's memory for at least a short time. And, because 4chan is not encrypted, anyone between the 4chan server and your computer (including anyone with access to your router) can read my post just as well.
In the end, most people obviously don't, but there is no trick or anything. Any programmer will have done this already to test if their programs send the right messages. It's like delivering a post card: of course, in most cases the postman won't care, but you should never write important data on a post card.
So, in the end no one can tell me that we've done Pokémon battles via post cards till now and no one had the idea to read them before sending their move back.
