It's not feathers that are edgy, it's the fucking jagged, EDGED, spiky shape that Xzard has.
The classical western dragon depiction is edgy because it's a jagged scaly killer monster that flies and eats people. It's also edgy because it inherently attracts autists that think edgy=cool and associate dragons with that mentality in the same way they associate the dark and/or juxtaposed colors like deep blacks and blues along with brighter colors like red or a bright blue.
Edgy (adj.) being jagged or rough, having many edges, being gritty or ovely dark.
