Hell yeah, saw the first movie at the theaters too. I saw it twice, the first time with my parents, and obtained the ancient Mew card. I would carry it everywhere in one of those hard plastics. Then there was a school field trip a little while after, and because we had done so well in a fundraiser, we got to vote on where to go.
>mfw 95% of the kids voted the theaters to see Pokémon
Shit was so cash. I got a Pikachu and Mewtwo card that day because a friend wasn't really into Pokémon. When I was in line to buy snacks, this employee was like
>"Hey kid, you like Pokemon, right?"
>"y-yeah...why?"
>"Well, here you go little dude"
>hands me ancient mew card
>"I work here and got like 6 for free because we had some left over."
>go back to my group happy as fuck
That was great. I don't like bringing up that the Pokémon craze was so great, but it really was. Everyone loved Pokémon. I would see kids and adults trading, battling, playing cards, buying toys, everywhere. And when Burger King was giving out toys, hoooly shiiiit. It was PACKED every day.
Tons of great memories, but my most prized memory that I hope I never let go of is seeing Mortal Kombat at the theaters with my parents.
