For all of us mm'ing out there, how about a support thread? Tell me your stories, how long have you been breeding your pair? What is the most eggs you've had to hatch for your perfect shiny? What's the shortest? I started breeding espurrs, but I wanted a male and have only been able to hatch females, but the first shiny was 38 eggs in, and the second was somewhere in the 400's

I finally hatched the Venipede I wanted after 39 boxes a couple days ago. I got one on egg 4 with Swarm, one on egg 271 with Swarm, and then on egg 1169 I got one with Speed Boost. I think my next project will be a Furfrou though I'm not feeling quite up to it yet, I'll give it a few more days.

I feel bad for asking this but is the Masuda method breeding with a pokemon from another region for an increased chance at a shiny? Does the parents holding items affect the chance?

Does anyone think there is a link between masuda parents and the shiny rate? i.e. There's more chance for a shiny if you have one parent JPN and one ENG than one JPN and a ITA one. I'm curious cuz I scored a shiny on the 6th try with one ENG-ITA pair and now im on the 500th egg with an ENG-JPN and no dice yet
Alice- 4184 1461 2541
>>16343658 I don't think there is any research on it, but maybe its more difficult for the region of the breeder. Like if you have one from ITL and a JPN one but you're from ENG maybe that makes the difference? I have heard others mention it.

Anonymous
>>16343874 Because shinyness is determined when an egg is hatched based on the eggs shiny value and a trainers shiny value, people check these hidden values with external software called instacheck and find some anon on here with a matching number to their egg, trade it, make them hatch it as shiny and then trade it back. It's really just cheating the mechanic to make things shiny that shouldn't be with zero effort so people who don't like cheating don't really care for it.

can anybody clarify what constitutes a foreign pokemon? back when the games were localized on a region to region basis, the language tag was the obvious mark, but with 'simultaneous worldwide release' we all have access to the same language options regardless of our geography. The game does use 3ds location data for Vivillon, but there is no indication for the region of a pokemon's OT, and there is no evidence that it's tracked besided Vivillon patterns.
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>16344269 I think people have concluded that the language tag is what makes it 'foreign'. There have been people that own two games and select two different languages that have had success MMing. This stops the potential for being wonder traded a pokemon from your region with a foreign tag and being unsure if it counts or not. Also the language tag is made when the egg is made not hatched too so you can't trade an egg to someone and get them to trade it back for a foreign good IV mon.
