It doesn't have much a move pool, and at 105 it's sort of slow for a sweeper.
And if you plan to use it as one of those, it would be obvious quickly. Gyarados would be obvious when Intimidate doesn't go off (inb4 "BUT MOXIE") . Gengar may buy you a turn or two, turn one they'd switch out afraid of a mega evo shadow tag, but unless you use focus blast it would be obvious since it can't learn the other 3
Yes you could teach it shadow ball, but ghost and dark hit the same things super-effectively. It would be a waste of a moveslot really for an illusion that would break when you get it. And it can't take a punch.

Battle Preview ruins it completely in 6v6 you just know its going to imitate something its resistant to like Shadow Ball with a ghost type, its pretty obvious when one comes out as well especially if the moves they are using don't match up with typically used moves by the Pokemon its copying.

Having said that it can do some damage in non-preview matches (Like DW OU back in Gen V)

But I'm giving practical advice on how to use it. It was still UU back in Gen V, I'm just saying it's Illusion ability isn't as practical as you may think at first glance.

Well if you want to run it, it really may as well just be a sweeper

On paper, it's easy to predict that it's Zoroark, but you'd be surprised in late game how many people completely forget that it's being used. But it doesn't really do too great as a sweeper.

The best thing about the Illusion ability is making them think your other mons are actually Zoroark, not the other way around.

Well it's defenses are 60/60/60, equal to Aegislash in offensive mode
It'll take 2 Neutral moves at best most likely. Even if the opponent forgets that it's Zoroark, it won't do much.
I'd also like to remind you, we're in the middle of priority meta, choice scarf wont' help that much.

That is the best way to do it. Is that Gyarados that just used Substitute going to womp out physical attacks or special? Is that Trevanant going to burn errything or blast you? Do you use Trick on that Kangaskahn or do you switch to Ferrothorn?

in a game that's based on prediction having something that undermines all prediction is pretty good.

the pokemon itself, aside from it's ability, is a revenge killer and it should be used as such. u-turn and stab sucker punch are reason enough to go mixed with it's 105 attack. it's speed is more than useable.

Yeah, this was the set I used in gen V, and it went pretty well. I'm not saying that it's perfect though, but when used like this, it does the job pretty well.

If they are ALWAYS assuming its a Zoroark because of team preview, how about really sending your Gengar instead and eating a bug/fighting/fairy/normal move?
A simple revenge kill using hidden power can make the opponent unsure on what pokemon used it, but something stupid like a Gengar running Dark Pulse will almost surely trick them.
