anyone else have a mon that always occupies a slot? even if it disrupts the synergy of the team?

Usually Ferrothorn to tank hits when I need to heal someone. Also pretty much anything that knows fly.

Scizor. Fuck the haters, I've loved him and used him since Gen 2, and he's just too cool. Capable of running multiple sets successfully gives him so much more staying power, and Bug/Steel is just amazing.

Skarm, always. Since gen 4.
I use Starmie for my spinner about 90% of the time and Terrakion is my go-to revenge killer.

Although, I rarely use Starmie or Skarm in 3v3.

Not always since I actively try to train new mons I haven't tried each game, but Marowak is a regular guest in most teams. At least when I can be bothered tracking down a Thick Club for it.

Nidoking deserves a mention for being most used in-game partner across games with a total of four.

I always have room on my team for the upset sea slug. It's always been a reliable member of my team against pretty much everything.
Only grass really causes it problems, and Grass is the rarest type I encounter. Usually the only grass move that ever gets used against it is Grass Knot and it isn't particularly vulnerable to that move since it isn't a heavy pokemon.
