Today I jumped into online battles for the very first time. I've played several generations of Pokemon games and enjoyed them a lot, but I've always focused more on collecting all of the pokeymans rather than battling them. In my matches so far I've really been getting my shit pushed in. Even my fairly decent knowledge of type vs type hasn't been helping much as I'm being blown up by "not very effective" moves on occassion. The rest of the time I'm swept by legendaries or certain moves that just seem incredibly strong despite the lack of any kind of type advantage. I'm really at a loss for what I can do to improve.
Do you guys have any tips for beginners besides "spend over 9000 hours super training and breeding"? Anything I should focus on in team comp or moves or something? I'm not looking to become any kind of super high level player or anything, but it would be nice not to get totally annihilated every match. Thanks!
