So, how did /vp/ get into pokemon?
I saw the show when i was little, and (maybe before) my first ever video game was Pokemon Crystal. (i beat that game at least a hundred times)

Never touched gen 2, 3, 4, 5.

Gen 6? One year ago I read a very shitty fanfiction with Gardevoir. After that, I goggled the name still having no idea how it looks, liked the design, and picked Pkmn X.

Damn that fanfic, it was so bad but I sort of remember it to this day.

Watched the anime as a kid. Never had the games because I was poor. My girlfriend loves the games and forced me to play her HeartGold. I never finished it, but I emulated Emerald and FireRed. Now I'm just waiting to be able to get a 3DS so I can play X and Y with her.

Grandfather showed me the first three episodes of the anime, after I watched them I was interested and I ended up getting Blue for my birthday.

I got a Game Boy for my 6th birthday then bought Pokemon Blue from Gamestop. I love how my old save still works.

I can't remember how, but I got a promo tape in the mail (I think) that explained pokemon, had some clips from the upcoming anime, and showed red and blue.

Long, long ago, my best friend had one of the pokemon games (either Red or Blue). He let me play it one day when I was spending the night. I remember he had a Charizard and a Tentacruel, and I was going through one of the first routes asking him if he had a pokemon each and every time I ran into a wild battle.

After that, I got my parents to buy me the guide, and I just stared at the pokedex pages in the back day after day after day. Finally, I convinced them to buy one of the versions for me ( can't remember which, and it was a debate with my mother because 'psychic' was a type, and it bothered her). It's been an on-again and off-again love affair since then, but currently in one of my strong swings.

When the pokemon craze first started, I thought it was girly shit because the only ones I'd seen were Pikachu and Clefairy. Then I watched the Muk episode of the anime and well. I thought purple slime monsters were really cool when I was a kid. I still think that way.

When I was in first and second grade, my dad's working schedule and possession of the sole car in the family meant that no one could pick me up after classes ended. Luckily there was an afterschool program there that I could spend a few hours in. They did all kinds of things like make us do homework, teach us how to play board games, and even introduce us to chess.

Sometimes they would drag a TV out to show us something, and most of the time it was something educational, or it was a movie, or both. One time, and one time only, they just let us watch an episode of Pokemon that was running. I know it was Brock's debut episode because I remember seeing some giant rock snake get drenched by sprinklers.

And I thought it was pretty cool! So I started watching it at home every morning before school. I believe that it was Christmas '99 that I finally got a GBC, and with it Pokemon Pinball. I didn't really understand how to play, but I was entertained endlessly in spite of that.

Not long after that came Pokemon Stadium, with Pokemon Yellow to play on the Gameboy Tower or whatever it was called; this ended up being the first game I had any clue what to do in. And that pretty much sealed it for me.

Can't remember if it was Red or Blue.
But he let me start a file (so long as I didn't save)
I started with Squirtle and made it to Viridian City.
Good times, good times...
I got Pokemon Blue for my gameboy pocket later,
I started with Charmander, and never looked back.
I was that kid that beat the entire game with Charizard.
It wasn't until my friend showed me how to multiply rare candies that I really started using other Pokemon, and even then my teams were poorly constructed and consisted of the basic "elements"
I've come quite the way since then...

I remember going into a Chuck E Cheese or whatever it's called for my cousin's birthday. After we were done we noticed a poster of a Pikachu at a comic book store. We went inside to see what it was about and it just so happens that the guy inside was starting a sale on Pokemon cards. Me, my brother, and cousin bought a few packs and saw how awesome looking each pokemon card was. The guy also mentioned the games and tv show had started too. We got home later that day and was lucky enough to find it on. By that time we were hooked.

Presently my cousin quit liking the series, but his brother watches it. I play the games and just recently began playing the card game and my brother is a genwunner with a giant arm sleeve tattoo of the starters.
