Sadly, yes. Probably Instachek will still be pepular, because easy legit shinies. But shiny trade and shiny weekends will lose some people, more than already lost to instacheck.

I'm still hatching mm eggs for a shiny male espurr with its HA. I have either the worst luck or the best luck because I got two shinies from the first 500 eggs, but the worst thing is they were both female, which with most other pokes wouldn't be that bad, but meowstic had to be all cool and have gender differences. Ugh.

its good. I panicked after i lost my first destiny knot (probably accidently traded away) but then thankfully you can get it from a trainer in the game. It helps with the mming, but sometimes i still have to scour the GTS for a decent parent. People on there can be crazy though, they have a four or five IV pokemon and they're like, can i have your legendaries please? What for your four IV common pokemon, yeah sounds good!

Story time.

Last night I had been up for like 2 days MM'ing, and it was around 4 AM. Naturally I was fucking tired as shit, but I kept on breeding my Goomys. At one point, I looked at the hatched Goomy I had just finished up, and saw it was shiny. I flipped shit of course, and immediately checked its IVs. It was 31/xx/31/31/31/31 and had Gooey. I saved, then turned it off, to train it when I woke up. I woke up this afternoon extremely pumped, and turned on my 3DS and went through my party, only to find out that the Goomy I hatched, labeled, and named, wasn't shiny at all. All my hopes and dreams came crashing around me as I realized that my mind had most likely played a trick on me so I could get some sleep.

GTS just taught me a lesson in life. Traded away a shiny magnezone (cause it was the only magenezone i had) for a japanese ditto that the message said had 5 IV's. So i was like well i'm not using that magnezone and i need that jpn ditto so i can have a better mm shiny, But no. The ditto only has two perfect IVs and I'm so naive and bummed for thinking that people would be a bit more honest in their trades.

I-I just hatched two shiny Drilburs within 15 eggs of one another; without using Masuda Method.

How is this even possible?

Thankfully both have three perfect relevant IVs (parents are 4IV, so I'll take what I can get) and one has HA while one is Sand Force. Of course Ability Capsule makes that easy enough to change even if one wanted Sand Rush.

I'm kind of scared to swap the parents out because it might throw off this absurd luck.

How do you guys get your foreign pokes? I get them off WT but I don't always get something good...

Anyway, after hatching multiple shinies in just a hundred eggs or so, my luck has run out. I've been switching targets continuously with no luck. What should I breed?

Scraggy with Dragon Dance and Drain Punch, Pinsir with CC and Quick Attack, Espurr with Trick, or maybe try for a shiny larvitar with that 4IV slowpoke I got?

Some get them from GTS, some get them from friends, some get them from /wfg/. There are even some people in these threads that flip the parents if you give them 5IV pokemon to breed them with. I do it every now and then for people, but I'm focusing on this Goomy so I can't help you. Sorry.

I have no idea. No worries though, I've got me a Swirlix, and apparently it learns Wish at 45. Thankfully, I can get male and female ones (they're not locked to one gender) so breeding it should be a problem. I was panicking over getting Acid Armour on Goomy for a while, it's something ridiculous like catch a Grimer, breed it with a Shellos, breed that with a Skrelp and THEN breed that with a Goomy. Thankfully I got lucky on the GTS though, and one of my males has Acid Armour and Counter.

You dont even need the program, most people are happy to scan your eggs for you since they need to trade with someone to scan their own anyway.

I used MM method to get my first shiny Charmander, then spent 5 days straight failing to hatch a shiny froakie, and said fuck it and started to use instacheck instead.
Seriously, it's just so much easier. If you really want a shiny for a certain pokemon just do it, theres no need to waste days/weeks just for soemthing as trivial as a colour pallete swap.

You could try breeding yourself a penta/hexaperfect female and getting a male on the GTS in the Field egg group. It's a huge egg group, so you have a good chance of finding a 4/5 IV male.

Instacheck is a massive pain to set-up, and the thread moves incredibly fast. It's kinda nice for trading and stuff, got myself a 5 IV Moody Snorunt in exchange for one of my Goomies (not for shinies, just for trading). There are many remnants of old breeding projects in the thread, but a lot of begging and "my friend matches your SV, but all I have is Bunnelby, pls gibe".

I will admit, it's kinda fun on WT. You can immediately see the IVs of your and their Pokemon. It's double-depressing when you get a Flababe or something though, you can see just HOW terrible it is.

I'd say maybe give it a go for fun in the future, but don't worry yourself over it. I went in there after hatching 40 boxes of Goomies for ANOTHER shiny Goomy (my then-current one had "dismal" HP, and that just wasn't good enough!) and did get some matches pretty fast. It can be a stressful experience, because you have to put a of trust in these strangers hatching your eggs and trading them back to you. Well, I found it a bit stressful anyway.

Most of the posters there are lovely though, so have a look. Lots of people are willing to help out and check eggs and whatnot, but remember that the trainer OT will NOT be you. That bums out some people.

i stopped keeping track of boxes, i know the first shiny showed up after 38 eggs, the second shiny somewhere around 400, and when i was in an online battle last night, it showed that i had hatched nearly 900 eggs. I got lucky on the GTS and someone put that 5V espurr up looking for something easy to get, and it was the correct 5 IVs. But I have this Japanese friend I made through acquaintances who gives me a 6IV thing every now and then, and I give him my 6IV things back. Yesterday he gave me a 6IV smeargle, so that espurr went out of business.

I've also got lucky and got a few japanese 5IV things from wonder trade as well, but most of my breeding fodder is from my japanese friend. Also, beautiful pinsir you got there!

espurrs hatch pretty fast. I usually use the route the daycare is on, keep four eggs with me, one poke with flame body, then grab the egg for the sixth spot and put it in the pc. let's you hatch while you collect eggs.

Don't follow gen 4 rules. They are WAY different. I can help with this shit.

Attempt to not use the radar or take patches on edges high up in chains because edges can randomly break your chain, you can take them early on

Take patches atleast 2 patches away from you, if 2 patches are shaking as hard as possible take the farther one

ONLY take the hardest shaking ones (obviously)

If you have doubts on a patch(s) reset the radar, resetting radar doesn't break chains. NEVER TOUCH THE CIRLCE PAD

I have atleast 15 or 16 shinys now, 3 from chain fishing, one from breeding so 11 or 12 were from the friend safari but over the past week or two i hit a dry spell had nothing, but yesterday i got a shiny volbeat i do not care that it is considered a shitmon it has very nice coloring so i am overall happy about it (i would have rather had a paras but a shiny is a shiny so no complaining).
