Seriously what the fuck. Metagross needs a mega desperately, and Salamence is quickly going the way of his fellow gen 3 pseudo. And Dragonite needs one where he takes on more of Dragonairs traits, like what Mega TTar did.

I was honestly expecting all the starters to receive Megas. I was ecstatic over the idea of a Mega Typhlosion.

Speaking of fake megas, I decided to preemptively sap some of my distaste for the 'overdesigned, with shit drawn on them' megavolutions that may be a likely outcome for quite a few guys.

To this end I decided to draw a Mega-Lucario-tier Gallade to envision something that *could* happen, but I am now left at the fork of a road regarding its head.

Any ideas? I could use a bit of everything to create something feasible.

I love this because it's kinda subtle but works for both genders. I guess Levitate wouldn't be enough to justify a Mega, but I wish it was real nontheless.

Type: Poison/Steel
Ability: Clutter - this Pokemon is surrounded by refuse, and automatically "Knocks Off" the target's held item with any attack. When an item is knocked off, it adds it to its pile and its Defense increases +1

Stats:
HP: 125 (+45)
Att: 105 (+10)
Def: 112 (+30)
SpAtt: 60
SpDef: 97 (+15)
Speed: 75
BST: 574 (+100)

*concept is to increase Garbodors utility as a bulky Pokemon who can lay hazards and support the team. Steel-typing gives it much needed resistances and helps it to scare the pants off any opposing Fairies. Add to this its killer new ability and you have a fantastic wallbreaker/team support on your hands. Good strategy might be to send in Garbodor with Weak Armor on a resisted hit to get the Speed boost, then Mega on the following turn with some retaliation move or buff. Definitely much more versatility here.

Mega snorlax its not super buff
Basically Snorlax has mastered sleep and gets an ability to let it attack in its sleep. Dodge rate drops to zero though (outside of OHKO moves)

Just did a scan of Dewgong's movepool.

Technician Dewgong with those stats? Jesus.

Icy Wind, Ice Shard, Fake Out, Aqua Jet, Frost Breath, Icicle Spear, Water Pulse all get boosted.

What would keep it in check is that it has no reliable healing beside Aqua Ring/Rest and no real way to boost stats.

Still, boosted Frost Breath/Fake Out/Aqua Jet combo is nothing to scoff at. That's a fun little annoyance right there

What would a good ability for Mega Golem be? Going off the fan design in this thread, I want something fire related and explosive, but it would enjoy something like Solid Rock as well...

Would M-Golem be offensive focused, bulk focused, or a mix? I kind of feel it needs to go all out Att/SpAtt with some extra Speed to try to start steamrolling opponents, but wondering what others say

It gains levitate.

Drop the % on Meganium to 25%, which then makes moves like 110BP Blizzard ~80BP.

Also, it's balanced as the HP doesn't increase and it's still weak to a LOT of things, inc 4x from Poison. I commend author for making a flavor ability over something like Filter

Swampert has always been my favorite starter, and I've been more than pissed he got such a shit alternate ability, and the stupid chicken got something as broken as speed boost.

Arm Thrust is bad, I'll give you that, but M-Heracross gains 125 Pin Missile + Rock Blast to go with its 120 Close Combat on top of its great bulk.

It's a worse sweeper in every respect compared to normal Heracross, but as long as you don't try sweeping with it, M-Heracross definitely has a strong niche, even more so with Sticky Web support.

Giving a pokemon that has ridiculous defenses, toxic immunity, and weaknesses to only physically-based types, the ability to heal AND boost simultaneously (Iron Defense + that new ability) would be way too strong.

MegaGengar could possibly take it out with Focus Blast given that it has very little Sp. Def investment, but even then it's not a guaranteed OHKO. Dragon Tai could send it back after it attack and then MegaSteelix could just Heal up on the next 'mon who switches in.

my biggest beef with megas is all the lost potential.

Instead of designing a bunch of shitty digimon, they should have made an X & Y stone and given EVERY pokemon an interesting "ancient ability" (or whatever the fuck you want to call it) and stat bonus. Maybe they could have spent the effort making some interesting alternate evos
