>>16404754Predicting the enemy using Protect allows you to use a boosting move, set up hazards, switch out, or use any other move that doesn't involve directly targeting your opponent, all for free. If you're unable to predict it because they're using it on something that doesn't typically carry Protect (or using it on everything), then they get a couple in at the expense of a moveslot on something that can probably better use it on a different move.
