I loved it when it was revealed. Sadly they fucked it up with Slurpuff.
I don't even dislike Slurpuff that much. It's cute in a silly way. I was planning on using it in my first playthrough. But Gamefreak put the final nail in its coffin by making it, not just a trade evolution, but an ITEM trade evolution, one of the most inaccessible evolution methods in the franchise. If it were a badass looking rape machine like Kingdra I'd understand why GF made it that way -- not only is it cool, but its coolness is multiplied by the fact its hard to get. Slurpuff however struggles enough with its mediocrity and derpy design. Had it been a level evolution, it prbably would have been a heartfelt, quirky, surprising bro to many people, and its design would be cherished by them from their ingame memories. But because its so fucking inaccesible, most of those potential people, such as myself, thought it wasn't worth the effort, set Slurpuff aside and will barely ever remember it exists.
That evolution bullshit is another objectively bad idea from Gamefreak. They have proven time and time again that they aren't omnipotent designers whose brilliance we don't understand. We understand that they're human and make mistakes. However I feel as though these mistakes are becoming much too frequent for a professional company, not to mention the developers of one of the most successful franchises of all time. They really need to realize a higher standard and replace the designers who consistantly fuck things up. I'm sure with their popularity they could be doing MUCH better.
