How do you breed Pokemon? So far I have a female with six perfect IVs holding an everstone and a male with five perfect IVs holding the destiny knot, but for the past three-ish boxes I've only been able to produce one female 6IV, I'm still waiting for a male.

What am I doing wrong?

It's mostly luck. The Destiny Knot only passes down five IVs, so you have to get lucky for that last one to be perfect on its own.

What Pokemon is it, by the way?

It's an Adamant Poliwag. I have a few of them without a perfect Special Attack IV but I put so much effort into this (I'm really incompetent and it takes me a while to catch on to things) that I want my Poliwrath to be the best it can be.

I see everybody running around with 6IV mons because of how easy it is, I just assume it's etiquette. I know there's really no point but it doesn't hurt to have.

you could put two pokemon with two perfect IV's together and destiny knot will pull all four into stats you want, the last IV into a stat you don't need, and the egg randomly generates a perfect IV in the last one.

you could put two pokemon with five perfect IVs together w/ destiny knot and go through a couple boxes without getting another 5 IV pokemon.

I use power items and a destiny knot untill i get one with the IVs i want. Then give that one a destiny knot, breed that with another pokemon holding an everstone with the nature i want. Keep replacing. The everstone one with newer babies with better ivs, and i end up with a perfect one in the end.

You are wasting time that could have been used in breeding another mon. Or more than one, probably. It doesn't hurt to have, but keep in mind it's wasted time. At least with shinies you can tell the difference with just a look.

What spread do you want for Poliwag?
They're all Adamant and most of them have Water Absorb.

Man, when people talk about Perfect pokemon, they tend to mean 5 IVs without the attack stat that they don't use.

People tend to say hexaperfect or somesuch when it's 6 max IVs

This is what I do, someone tell me if I'm retarded in case I can do it much easier. I use a ditto or friend safari to breed two or one 2 IV pokemon together. I give one a destiny knot, and one a power item for a stat that the other doesn't have perfect. I repeat this until I get a 3 IV, then I replace one of the 2 or less IVs with it. I repeat this with a power item and destiny knot until I get two pokes with close to perfect IVs, and I breed them until I get one with the right nature and good IVs. Then I breed the two, one with destiny knot and one with everstone, until a basically perfect pokemon is made with the right nature.

This is the right method, right?

That's normal.
With the good parents you have around 1/31 chance of getting the 6 Ivs mon and two boxes are 60 mons.

Also why the hell do you need 6 Ivs mons in first place? Only mixed attackers need them, while special attackers actually need the lowest attack possible for obious reasons. (Confuse status, foul play etc)

I preferred when people called 'hexaperfect' pokemon 'Flawless'. Because it doesn't sound as stupid. Sure, pentaperfect is alright for 5 useful stats because that didn't really have a term, but hexaperfect? Whats wrong with flawless?
