So what's the deal with Ampharos's mega making it part dragon and giving it a shitty ability? I mean the thing becomes a dragon type with only one usable dragon type move and Dragon Pulse was even nerfed to 90 this gen. I just can't wrap my head around how you give a poke an entire new typing with only one useful move that was nerfed.

*Nerfed to 85. In fact that's even worse because most of the special 95 BP moves were taken to 90 and they did not leave Dragon Pulse at 90 which isn't even super effective against anything BUT dragon.

They most likely only gave it a Dragon mega simply because Ampharos is called Denryuu in Japanese, which literally means "Electrical Dragon". That's it, no deeper thought behind the mega, they just thought it would be cool because it fits the name.

Try the agility set, 165 sp attack is no joke. Modest outruns base 122 speed pokemon after an agility.

Mold breaker kinda sucks for him, but no sturdy i guess?

At least megagara gets earthquake for levitaters

No. Gyarados has nothing to do with dragons, and it would make even LESS since than Ampharos, who's Japanese name is Electric Dragon, to get it.

People should really try using it as a slow, bulky, Volt Switch pivot. Talonflame and Rotom-W are two of the most used pokemon right now and Mega Ampharos doesn't give a shit about them at all.

The nerf of dragon pulse does hurt but that base special attack aint nothin' to fuck with.

Ampharos needed a reliable healing option to be pretty good. Would parabolic charge have been useful on it if it got it? I mean 50 BP isn't much but with 165 Spa it would hit somewhat hard.

What does Mold Breaker allow Mega Ampharos to hit that it couldn't hit before? Volt Absorb, which you wouldn't do anyway since electric is not very effective on most Pokemon that have it. Lightening Rod, which is the situation as Volt Absorb. It can paralyze through Limber, which is nice I guess.
