>>16453897>>16454154Exp. Share upgrade is not bad nor is it to blame for the game being easy. GOOD rpgs have always given a slice of exp to party members that aren't participating in a battle.
1.) What makes the games easy is the abundance of items and money. Amulet Coin/Luck Incense/Prize Money Power is just absurd. Being able to hold 99+ of any one item is absurd.
2.) Then there's the ability to retreat from any place at any time. You can leave gyms mid challenge. Routes. Caves. Forests. Enemy fucking bases. No harm, no foul. They'll await your restocking and post free full heal-all return.
3.) Then there are your opponents. The average number of pokémon any given trainer has throughout the entire game is 2. Next highest is 1. 3 & 4 are a good distance behind it. This would be less of an issue if points 1 & 2 didn't exist. If each area was a gauntlet you couldn't just turn and walk away from, the low pokécount of each trainer would in fact be balanced.
As it stands all of the games are easy mode, exp share or not because they more or less all share these same qualities.
