In that case, placing my bets on Hoopa. Volcanion obviously doesn't fit the bill, and even if you don't buy into the Diancle/Carbink connection, it does seem pretty obvious that Diancle will be defense-oriented, because that's a common thing with Pokemon that have a gem/rock motif.
