Bulletproof doesn't protect against it because "bullet" in "bullet punch" only describes the speed of the punch.

A better question would be: why is bullet punch steel type? Pokémon logic.

Yeah the problem is that Chensaught doesn't have any ev's in defense or HP it's not that they put in the calculations with -6 defense and +6 attack as a joke or anything.
