I didn't play particularly well, but my opponent really wasn't good. I switched out my Ditto after copying the Mega chicken when I saw how bad its moves were. Strength and 3 fire moves. Also Scolipede is meant to have Sash but I didn't have one at the time.

Between people angry that it's faster than their crappy Blaziken, people angry that it flinched them, and people angry that it critted, I've literally had five people disconnect first turn out of about twenty matches I played with it.
Fake Out's pretty bad as well. I think people new to competitive gaming assume it's an offensive move with a small chance of flinching.

and then, P8HG-WWWW-WWW3-G6TZ happened.
He wasn't obviously the smartest opponent ever but that was pretty fun to beat this kind of team with a way underleveled team, even EV/IV trained.

The passerby used decent OU mons and I used my in-game team but with the right natures, IVs and EVs. Maybe if she had used sneaky pebbles I'd have lost. And she had the mons to do that.

My personal favorite was my first and only double battle challenge from a passerby with 2 Greninjas. I felt so pressured throughout the battle due to his OUmons while I mostly used stuff like Lanturn and Drifblim. Eventually after knocking out the second Greninja on my last 2 Pokemon (Lanturn and Tyrantrum) the passerby didn't send out anything else, just left with Wobbuffet from earlier. I beat most of his team without realizing it since I was so pressured I didn't even pay attention to his number of Pokemon. That Greninja would've beaten me too if it fired an Ice Beam at Tyrantrum but a Confuse Ray from Lanturn earlier made it hit itself and allowed Tyrantrum to land the finishing blow. With Wobbuffet left my Lanturn just Scalded and Confuse Ray'ed every now and then to avoid Mirror Coat while Tyrantrum built up Dragon Dances. Eventually the passerby forfeited when it was certain Tyrantrum would be able to OHKO it after buffing up about 5 times.

this, I'm leaning towards only playing with friends because on free battle americans are always using a variety of the same 10-14 smogon cookie cutter builds and Japanese are the same or use legendaries (although I've seen way more Japanese with actually diverse teams. I'm american btw

Lately I've been hitting the battle spot with my team of gen 1 bros, Butterfree, Farfetch'd and Wartortle. (I trained a Wartortle to level 100 back in the day because I like its design better than Blastoise.) I don't win often, but when I do, it's fucking wondrous. If this thread is still here when I get home from work, I'll post a video.

One match, I lead with a sticky web Galvantula to make up for my team's lack of speed.

I use Farfetch'd because back in RBY, Dux was one of my favorite Pokemon. A wild duck with a leek for a sword is fucking boss. Just because years down the road I learned he had abysmal stats doesn't mean he'll stop being one of my favorites. And what's the point of favorites if you don't use them to battle?

it's an incredibly well-put together site with pokemon stats and strategies, however, since most competitive players just play in OU where it's a clusterfuck of teams that are at least 5/6 of the 10-15 "best" OU mons that you see over and over again, many people dislike smogon and view it as overcentralizing, which is silly because that would happen anyway.

uu and ru have a lot more diversity than ou, ubers is a wacky retard shitshow, and nu is the bracket for fucking ballers only.

That chandelure did not have a proper IV or EV assortment.

I always assume my opponent is smart enough to bring a proper team to battle and would never assume that they didnt have max IV's.
