What's the appeal in competitive play if you're not going to win without needing all of the same pokemon that EVERYONE USES!!!??? I've tried to make original teams only to get my shit slapped and MAYBE taking out two of the enemy team. Is this game all about "finish the elite 4 and then grab a handful of overused, overpowered pokemon to fight others with?" What the fuck do we have 700+ pokemon for if we're just going to pick between about 15 - 20 of them actually being worth a shit?
And yes, before any of you say it, I'm a bit mad. I've logged over 200+ hours on this game (would be more if it wasn't for a full-time work schedule) only to find disappointment at the end of the rainbow. I legitimately want to know if there's any reason to continue if it's just going to end in joining the collective for any satisfaction.
