Funny you should mention it, those are the two I grabbed. But both were eventually replaced. Kinda wish I'd stuck with Diggersby longer but I looked up that evolution and it looks HORRIFYING.

Vivillon is terrible without Quiver Dance, and struggles with it. Diggersby is useless unless it has Huge Power, which you won't find in an in-game playthrough. Plus its ugly.

Yes. In fact, most of the time my in-game teams have 4 or 5 pokemon. Prior to Gen V that is because experience grinding in Gen V and up is so easy it can hardly be called grinding.

I almost had a Mono-Gen 6 team.

Chesnaught/Talonflame/Aegislash/Absol/Aurorus/Clawitzer.

Just based on what I wanted to use. Absol was there because this is the first game where it's early enough to be worth putting on a team in the main game.

I felt using mostly new Pokemon made it feel more fresh, and it's always good to discover new bros.

Playing through Y, my team was:

Delphox, Pangoro, Florges, Heliolisk, Dragelge and Aegislash.

There are other, perfectly good choices to run a Gen VI team for the main game at least, so this anon is right.

Unfortunately, I'll agree that the list is a bit sparse when it comes to certain types (Bug, Ice, Ground, Fighting and Ghost coming to mind specifically).

I had originally planned to use a gen-6-only team, but only ended up using half - the Budew I caught on a whim to take out the Rock gym ended up being a complete beast who OHKOd a Houndour with Giga Drain as Roselia, I could not refuse the Lucario who wanted to go with me, and the Lapras was because I needed a surfer.

At least the Budew and Lapras were Pokemon I hadn't used before? And in fairness, the Honedge I had intended to use had an awful nature, Amaura was dying to everything up to and including sneezes and passing breezes, and Goomy appeared at the point when I already had a full team.

I was partly trolling when I said that, but mostly what I meant was that I'd rather not take risks on shit I really, really don't know about (whether it'll evolve, how, into what) when I could just as easily try one of the many lines I haven't used yet. Like Cloyster. Another gen came and went I still haven't used a Shellder in my in-game team.
