I didn't bother to put that in my post for the sake of keeping it simple. Very rarely do you have the case where x is strictly better than y, but most of the time, x is better than y for what you are trying to do. Let's take Unsummon and Vapor Smag in M:tG for example. Vapor Snag is the better card for your deck 9 times out of 10, because you are most likely going to be targeting your opponents creatures and your opponent will lose a life. Unsummon is for decks that not only want to bounce your opponent's creatures, but can also use it to bounce a creature to your hand so you can take advantage of the creature's enter/leave the battlefield abilities.
