I tried to like the game, /vp/. I really did. But I just can't. The whole game is too fucking kawaii for me. It feels wrong.

This is my first game since Emerald. Never had a DS, so didn't play gens 4 and 5. Got a 3DS recently, and bought X. My god, what happened to this franchise.

I get that Pokemon is generally for kids. I don't even have a problem with it really. But it seems like previous gens, especially 1-3, weren't so kiddy and overly easy

It's not that I ever had trouble with a Pokemon game, but it seems like the earlier games left things up to you to figure out to some degree. The new ones just say "hurr go here"

Aesthetically, X/Y are easily the best in the series.

But Gen V overall adds one hell of a better experience, whether you preferred the original B/W, or the sequels, both knock X/Y out of the park. X/Y tried to pull a B/W with its characters, but it comes up short, especially when some of the characters are completely useless. (Trevor, Tierno, Diantha)

So yeah, X/Y a shit

The characters were definitely something that was lackluster in XY. I'll be damned if I can remember the gym leaders at all. But it was a very pretty game and did a lot for the mechanics.

I can agree with that. The only problem I had with some pokemon in platinum was how shitty their sprites looked, like they were frozen mid-pose. Rhyperior's platinum sprite makes me cringe.

You can rarely use Ice Types, Grass still sees some usage.
