I just used Surf. (It's my starter, so no Protean for STAB-anything) Avalugg would have died in 1 hit if not for Sturdy. But because I hit it on the switch-in, he didn't even get to attack.

I think Hyper Beam on Sylveon might actually be viable, with pixilate, choice specs and modest.

Can you imagine how powerful a choice specs pixilate modest hyper beam would be coming from Mega Gardevoir? Jesus Christ. WIth that kinda power, you DESERVE to rest for one turn.

Hyper Voice is a safer choice for both Pixilate users when Pokebank is out. The bonus raises it's base power past 100 and then it gets STAB, besides Earthquake just about anything with 100 or more BP has some downside to it. Hyper Voice with Pixilate is crazy powerful.

Earthquake has 2 downsides though: Hitting your team in doubles/triples and the fact that EVERY team you face will have one or more pokemon immune to it.

Boomburst however has 140 BP and no downsides other than hitting your allies.
