I really like the mask concept. It's unique and not very complicated at that. The other one just looks like a standing canine that's been done over and over.

I don't know, I actually really like yours as well! I think yours would win over paprika's if yours also had those creepy hollow eyes and mouth that are the main selling point of paprika's version. That second stage for the mantra shark has to be a joke, right? It doesn't even reference the shark at all. At least the first had a pointy amount. Plus, now that I look at it totally looks like a rookie level digimon. Can someone either redesign that or maybe omit making it 2 stage line.
Also, I hope the poster understands that its not the water starter, even though its next to the fire starter for some reason. (I also hope that's not the final design for the fire starter)

Okay, so here's something I just cooked up really quick. It's a Pokemon based on the old P-40 Shark planes from decades ago. I'm no artist, so it's looking a little shabby. I thought that the fire cracker fox from the last thread also looked pretty neat. My,my. Those do look nice (and very complete).
To me, Broome looks complete, some towns/cities shouldn't be overloaded with stuff.

I really like the cave/rock formation houses in the Coober Pedy town, the idea of an underground network sounds pretty cool too.

To me, I love the GBR, but it feels a bit empty. I feel like it needs some of those shallow water areas you could stand on (like pic related) and some more dive spaces (maybe some more rock formations littered too).

SEQguy, you do an amazing job at these maps. Now, we just need to wait for Bigro and the tileset. >>16507371 it's no problem. What you've done so far is good.

If you like the reference to be obvious that's fine too. Just remember that pokemon were around before any pokemon-related artifacts were save for a few weird mons so any reference should look natural and, if anything, like the inspiration not the reference itself.

Just imagine the top half of the pokeball without the bottom half, and then take away the center spot, leaving you with a semi circle with a dent in where the center would be. It's a symbol that's often used to reference pokeballs without making an actual pokeball.
If you were to put it were you put the actual pokeball marking in the first place I think it could work.

woah, sick blow against sage.

That said, we get that question asked far too rarely, and coordinating organisation practically doesn't exist. The polls can be considered official, and if so, we've got a limitation when it comes to dex structure. The maps are considered official too, but not many people are actively working on it so those that do pretty much have free reign.

In other words, we're barely at step zero.

I've decided to re work an entirely different concept with the cutter rabbit's 'rival' fox species. While most people would instantly think fences, I instead based it off the thing people used to successfully try and rid of the rabbits - the Myxoma virus used in bait. Not really, a much lighter concept stringing from it though. How about this:

The fox mon 'plants' itself into the ground with it's hind facing the surface, the tail resembles an edible plant (makes for good camouflage for the fox mon as well as acting like bait) and attracts the cutter rabbits. When the rabbit(s) approaches to eat it, the fox jumps out and using it's agile limbs, promptly chases after the rabbit(s), when it catches up to it/them, it injects poison into the rabbit through its fangs or thorns/pricks/stingers/sharp bits on it's joints. But you're probably thinking "Foxy, poison has no effect against steel (one of the most logical choices for a cutter rabbit with head/tail shears/scissors) ,this is stupid." That's where the fox's signiture ability will come in - an ability that allows it to bypass steel type's immunity to poison type attacks. Similar to the virus, it is able to break through the rabbit's resistances. Likewise, the fox mon would/could be part poison? The fox mon could be used by humans to rid of the cutter rabbit pests who keep cutting through fences and eating crops (similar to how the virus was put in bait to rid of rabbits eating crops after the fences failed).

The design I came up with is pretty meh. I couldn't really decide certain things but here's what I came up with:

The neck area
A. A 'collar' made out of thorns/spikes
B. A shrub
C. Withered leaves
Not there: Nothing

The tail:
1. Look's like a large bush/shrub with flowers resembling flowering vegetables.
2. It's whole hind looks similar to a carrot. The tail resembling the carrot's taproot while the back legs are an orange color (like normally carrots are).
3. The tail looks like a large leaf.

At the moment, all we have is productive people producing. That's it. No coordination, no planning and hardly no official limitations. A story carries the game and thus can't just be spouted out in the way other submissions can. The story depends on pokemon, legendaries, maps, the overall theme, the specific theme, the pacing, the characters, the protag motivation, the rival concept etc. etc. Likewise, the story can determine these factors.
Though I'd like to have a rough but official standing point on all of the core points of the game asap. Creative output is okay, but that phase can't last forever, and the longer it isn't coordinated, the worse coordinating will become.

I especially like the one-sidedness, since the rabbit has an advantige quantity-wise anyway. Having the rabbit normal/steel and the fox fighting/poison would be nifty, especially if it can bypass the steel immunity. However, should this make it OP, it could be a type other than poison, only learn a few poison infecting moves and still have that ability.

For me, I think the basic map and legendaries should be decided before working on a story (we can have basic ideas but we can't do anything with them). If we have all the routes and area gimmicks sorted out we can insert key events that could occur and what certain characters could talk about. Legendaries are important too - we're most likely are going to have an evil team want to use them for who knows what! I agree, no grass typing. It's just a disguise/camouflage gimmick. Mirroring the rabbit's Normal typing seems reasonable. Normal/fighting or (if we have it be posion) Normal/Poison perhaps? Having the Pokemon's typing being far superior to another in a rivalry just urks me for some reason - it makes one seem kinda awful while the other, far better (While I like Durant, it's far weaker than Heatmor in battle with that 4 times weakness to fire type attacks)

Since the fox is the hunter and the rabbit is the hunted, I'd say having a one-sided rivalry is okay.
And I strongly associate fighting type because while the rabbit is 'natural', the fox was specifically intoduced/bred to hunt down the rabbit. Fighting type always felt like an artificial type based on behaviour, which is one of the key things breeding manipulates. It also has a strong connection to humans in general, what of all the fighting pokemon using actual fighting techniques or enjoy battling with human martial artists.
So normal/fighting, normal/poison the only reason I'm slightly unsure of this is that it would gain an advantage over any steel type with its STAB, while it feels more focused on the rabbit otherwise or mono fighting would be my pick.

Also, in order to incorporate the adaptation aspect, it would be interesting to have the rabbit gain a hidden or rare ability that negates the immunity-ignoring ability of the fox.

Personally the fire and lightning both look a little tacked on to a real cheetah.

I do like the idea though - maybe go for a design based on a fire that was caused by a lightning strike? Or maybe an electrical fire.

I can't really visualize it right now but it's something that might bring it all in together.

Getting STAB on fighting type moves to kick the crap out of pesterous cutter bunnies (Norma/Fighting) seems reasonable considering the concept. Another suggestion: As brought up before in a pervious threa, most NPCs could look down upon using cutter rabbits in their party. some/a few NPCs could comment negatively if you've got one. NPCs could also use the fox but not the rabbit.

If we choose to give it a third stage, which we probably won't, those with the Rusty ability could evolve into a indeed rusted steel/ghost aeroplane wreck kind of pokemon. May be too gmmicky, but I love the mental image of that.

I was playing more on the plane part of the concept, and I thought a paper plane would be a cool thing.

Right. So, cutter rabbits have evolved and adapted from European Bunnelbies that came to Nullos and savaged the crops long ago. A massive fence was put around all of Nullos to prevent this and for a while, it worked. The Bunnelbies eventually overcame the fences by adapting their shovel ears to cutters through environmetal characteristic changes (?). The cutter rabbits then end up once again savaging the crops. Humans discover a fox mon or alter an existing fox mon somehow and use them to combat the cutter bunnies. Or something like that for the general rivalry background?

well I guess it's not going to happen.
the recollection story seems right to me, though I don't like being limited to bunnelby design-wise since the relation should at least look plausible. the fox itslf could theoretically also have naturally adapted to hunting the rabbits, but I prefer the artificial route.

two more things;
what's your standing on the cutter rabbit getting a very difficult but powerful and potentially rival-breaking evolution to make it viable? I prefer it single-stage, but the idea has been brought up and allowing it to evolve would link it to bunnelby more.

and how about stressing its adaptability not only by making it common pretty much in every environment, but also giving it optical indications of said locations, like white fur in snowy areas, brown fur in deserty ones, even green fur for bushy tropical zones? again I like the thought of it being vulnerable and basically dying fairly quickly, but maintaining and increasing its population through quantity alone. still, the idea has been brought up and I'd like to see whether people think it's worth following. if only to make constant encounters more bearable

Actually, since this is a deciding feature of the concept, I thought there could be a Cutter Rabbit repelling item you can buy that reduces the encouter rate or negates it completely. On the contrary, there could be a side quest where you are given a way to lure them to you in order to dfeat them, perhaps in order of ridding the Safari Zone from them by request of the Gym Leader around there since I like the idea of a Safari Zone leader being important

It would be cute but it wouldn't fit the general theme of the two mons base concepts. It's not really a hedge fox, more of a luring bait fox that has a shrub/taproot/leaf as a camouflage that hunts cutter rabbits, while the cutter rabbits are about adaptation with their ears becoming scissors(?) in order to cut through fences. Something like that could be used for another mon (though I don't think reusing a neat gimmick like that is very original...)?

Different anon here, I'm at work right now but when I get time I plan to sketch out an idea I have for the Beefy Fuckwasp as part of the Venom Trio. It will have a modification of Stance Change where it will have a Different secondary effect based on the form its in, equivalent to Shell Armor and Speed Boost respectively, in addition to stat changes. I like the idea of a snobbish foxhound mon that clearly has an 'artificial' touch to it. Problem is how would it chase after the rabbits? It looks as though it wouldn't blindly run after them, but the well-trimmed tail doesn't really seem to function as a bait to the rabbit.

Now that's an interesting concept. Apart from the funny thieving spider, the theme isn't overused yet, Though it may overshadow the common aspect.

Anyway, I quickly doodled something on paint. Cutting Rabbit as I imagine it, plus a version closer to Bunnelby, and one more (bottom left) that would be completely metallic white with pink eyes that would have an ouerwordly feel to it because I remember talk about making it fairy/steel type
More imprtanrtly, I wanted to show what I imagined the foxhound being like. The idea is that it's literally got iron bars as part of its body, but that it can form a literall moving fence when the ends attach to the iron bars of other foxhounds. This can then be used to systematically narrow down an area and force the rabbits against a wall. The tail should be imagined as a crude hand to snatch and throw back any rabbits that manage to slip or cut their way through.
I can't draw better than this, but any thoughts?

Also, I'd love to see someone try a rare exp-brinning mon based on the golden-backed tree rat. It's a species that was considered extinct until it was rediscovered by chance again.

Only issue with it is that it's another rodent. Perhaps this could be bypassed by implemnting an element like the mineral Tranquillityite (look it up), a mineral whose existance on Earth was considered non-existant before it was eventually indeed found - in Australia of course. This could be interesting for a rare single stage idea, and the name [from the sea of tranquility] would remind nicely of the proposed dreamtime theme.
I would've doodled something, but I couldb't come up with anything that wasn't a tree rat with a lump of tranquillityite on its back
Thoughts about the idea? Think of it's niche as a rare but better Audino.

Yeah, those are legitimate concerns. It wouldn't be actually chasing the rabbits but rather corner them. But even so, I'd say its more flexible than it looks, the fighting type providing it the strength to move fairly unhindered and likely allow it to jump over things.

I mainly like the story behind it, and if someone would manage to make a non-rat mon but based on the tree-rats concept, that would be the best possible outcome I could hope for. Also it just screams EXP-provider

I wonder...

I just remembered the idea for the opalized fossil 'mon, and decided to go look up fossils found in Australia. What I came across was the Muttaburrasaurus. I think it could be a nice candidate myself, maybe the large part on its snout could look like a large opal rock during his first stage, then in the second form it grows more opal areas all over its' body and the opal snout piece turns into a sweet-ass opal horn?

And here's the kicker: Color change would be the best ability for a sparkling multicolor jewel.

I liked the split personality of the koala idea, I don't think that niche has been filled by the dyngeist, even if the typin has.

I looked for that and I couldn't find anything Australian centered that wasn't the rat or the mineral. Perhaps I didn't look enough, but chances are it would be either a rodent, insect or a fish, all of which have been covered.
If I'm not alone in liking the idea, perhaps having it material and inorganic (since we lack those) could work, OR it could be based solely around the concept without any actual animalistic or material inspiration though I'm not sure if GF ever actually did that

I just don't like when artifacts are core design aspects, GF makes them flavour elements and for that I think it works allright.
However, the literal fence is supposed to be an artifact, since the foxhound was actually bred/trained/whatever to catch the rabbit. So it's a case of playing with the actual artifact character rather than having it on a 'natural' pokemon like the scuba cat.
Though to each his own I guess.

I'd rather have the rare mon be native and not foreign, since then a lot could qualify. It would also help to be fairly small, which Okapi aren't.
Regardless, Okapis would provide a sweet base for a pokemon.Trying to find concepts to cover with it.

Well, if we want a story for the golden rat, that's pretty easy to fill. Australia's Goldrush is big part of its history with people going nuts to hit the jackpot (lot like America's really).

Golden rat could be a natural gold finder or it hoards it in burrows. When people discovered what it did, they could have gone and torn up the landscape looking for burrows - and in the process wiping out most of the rats. Once thought extinct, people discovered it once again but now it's a protected species.

This was what I was looking for. I was pretty sure the overall design was pretty bland, but if a few points stand out, I'll keep those in. I'll try to make it a bit more colorful, give it a few more patterns or something, and make it a lot more vibrant.

I'm gonna go take a few more shots at giving it a more colorful and vibrant motif to fit the theme of Opals, and that'll probably be my last drawing for tonight. It's getting close to 2 a.m. so that's the point where I mainly just lurk.

Vibrant I don't think is the way to go.
Give it mainly dull colors so the opal really pops.

But fix the design. That's the real problem. It's Gen 2 basic, when fossil pokemon generally have a lot more going on with spikes or plates or some sort of something.

I did a bit of redesigning. Took influence from the other fossil mons, added spikes here and there, gave him the spike tail because the starter isn't using it, made the color palette a bit deeper... Well, you can tell the differences. How do you like this one? I'll check it when I wake up because obviously this is a dead thread at the moment.
