What does /vp/ think about gen 3 starters? I've seen some threads with people saying blaziken is bad design but what is the general consensus on them?

Sceptile just sucks because of his typing
Blaziken gets a lot of shit but it's only because people can't beat him. Aesthetically, he's pretty neat.
Swampert is of course a baller in every way.

I was really disappointed by Sceptile because it lost all the sleekness Grovyle had. The other two are fine, but not something I'd use. I have a hard time replaying gen 3 because of this.

I never really liked its design and marshtomp/mudkip are pretty bad. It has a great typing with pretty good stats but its line is ugly as shit.

Sceptile is alright. Idk I've never been too fond of it. Definitely my least favorite out of the three.

I still like Blaziken, and in fact it used to be really popular. The hate it gets now is mainly because /vp/ is filled with idiots who hate anything competitively good out of some weird hipster principle.

Swampert's pretty solid and is my favorite out of the three. Best design and it was the first Hoenn starter I tried out. It needs a better hidden ability though. Like Sap Sipper.

See, I feel the opposite. My team doesnt have trouble against Blaziken, but I think it has one of the most unappealing designs in all of Pokemon.

Torchic, Mudkip, and Treecko are my favorite base stage starters. Especially Torchic.

Treecko and Mudkip's evolutions are cool. I hate Torchic's evolutions, especially non-mega Blaziken. Sapphire is the only Pokemon game I went in knowing nothing about (I only knew the base starters, Wailmer, Kyogre, and Groudon), so that was really disappointing.
