From a purely strategical standpoint, which XY starter is the best?

I'd say Chespin from what I've seen, that spike shield bullshit looks gay as fuck. Granted I haven't actually bought the game yet.

Greninja is useful as it has access to STAB for all its moves and its speed allows it to be a good scout, and it can be used as a hazard setter

Chesnaught is decent because of its specific immunities, and it can be a somewhat useful tank or hazard setter, especially because it has access to Synthesis.

Delphox is just mediocre overall and is more than likely outclassed at whatever role you're going to want to use it for on a team.

What? Greninja with Protean is one of the best Pokémon introduced in this generation, and takes a very high rank among all Pokémon dex-wide. Obviously Greninja's line.

Greninja has universal stab and great coverage the only issue is that he lacks power. He's also a solid scout pokemon. Easily the best of the 3.

Chesnaught is pretty solid. He's a good tank on the physical side. Has alot of good support options and a good physical movepool on the attack side. Bulletproof is situational but still really useful.

Delphox is awful cause no moves and outclassed by every other Fire and Psychic type. No reason to use her at all. She's pure trash. Oh shitty ability too

This. Delphox isn't really bad, it is just solid and doesn't have a niche. It doesn't hurt most teams, but it doesn't particularly help them either.

Delphox has all the stab she really needs.

Delphox is BY FAR the worst, and I say that being a fennefag. Greninja is great for being a Starmie with STAB on a lot of shit, while Chesnaught isn't top OU or anything but do have some interesting niches (aka "fuck you Excadrill").
