Why is Delphox considered the worst starter?

I want to know because I usually always start with the fire types but if Delphox is really that bad I may just opt for frawg.

It's not really a bad ability, but Bulletproof and Protean are brilliant, Protean especially so

Movepool could be better. Hidden ability sucks compared to the other two. Its design is just okay.

This gen is actually the first time I didn't choose the fire starter. The Fennekin line just isn't my thing I guess.

That being said, I like Braixen and it's an alright special attacker.

You'd just have to figure out some way to make Magician work competitively.

I started with Fennekin, and it ended up doing pretty high damage. It also has Fire and Psychic type moves which are fairly useful ingame, and they are both types with a lack of Pokemon I personally like using. I also used a Furfrou, and the two of them could probably go through the entire game themselves.

Of course I haven't tried the other starters, so it might be the same with them. Chances are you are not going to want to use your starter competitively, and you'll breed a new one if you do want to use it. Since it's so easy to acquire the starter Pokemon it doesn't really matter what you choose, so choose the one that looks the best.

I faced a Delphox with substitute, chesto berry, and magician. It subbed on my Greninja switch, ate the Chesto Berry and took my life orb which made it useless for the rest of the match. Kudos to that guy..

Furfags got mad their perfect waifu got "ruined". I personally love the mage motif, Delphox now being my second favorite starter. It's got a pretty sad movepool at the moment, but I'm fairly certain it'll get that one move it really needs, whatever it may be, once pokebank opens and we can experiment with egg moves more. If you plan on using Delphox, speed and special attack are your best bets.

Greninja only gets STAB on all moves with its hidden ability, and I was under the impression this was for your in-game starter. Unless you're going to trade for one, in which case Protean seems like it would make the main game even easier than it already is.

If you are talking strictly about the metagame though, then Greninja is quite obviously the best.
