It's more like a lack of commitment. True, you don't have to do it, but don't pretend to be all high and mighty because you don't. Children can have perfect IV Pokemon now, why can't you? There's literally no excuse.

It will probably calm down in a few months, but probably not to the point of previous generations. I honestly think it's a good thing, the more the merrier. It really isn't that bad once you get into it.

I'm not saying that I'm better or smarter because I don't care about them, I just honestly don't think it makes too big of an impact in battles. Sure, maybe if you're playing competitively but not if you're just playing the story.

Nobody ever buys Pokémon for that. 100% guranteed. People buy it to play with their friends or with AND against other people. It was always like this, it is, and it will always be.

Now competitively, that's another story. But even a story player would see the wonders of hidden abilities and EVs, especially since they introduced Super Training, too.

It's like if in an FPS, everyone on one team took cover to not get hit, but the other guys run in guns blazing. They might die; they might kick ass.

Personally, I don't care about IVs either. If I had a 3DS, I'd use the dumbest shit because it looked cool. I'd bring in my Typhlosion from SS, (I'm told he has bad stats, but I call BS.) get a fire chicken, and a bunch of other things no one here agrees with.
Why?
Because it suits me and what I like and/or don't give a shit about.

This OP isn't being a dick, he's asking why so many people fap to perfectly bred Pokes.

It's just that everyone puts so much effort into getting 'perfect' pokemon and to me, it just detracts from the fun.
I have a friend who does this shit and every time we battle, he usually loses anyway. Maybe for some people its fun but personally I just can't get into it.
Or maybe I'm wrong. That has happened before.

There's something fun about playthroughs, assembling your guys, evolving them, learning, changing, progressing. It's the progression thing that keeps me coming back, as well as the sheer variety of Pokemon I get to mess with.

I cba for competitive, but if I end up with a good competitive Pokemon or Hidden Ability one, then it's still a really nice thing anyway. The problem I have with HA is that they're, well, hidden.

Though I understand people who ARE interested in those things and more, and that is perfectly awesome, since it got easier and its more accessible. And obviously if you want to get into competitive battling, IVs/EVs/abilities become very important.

Pokemon is flexible enough to where you can pretty much do anything and enjoy it.

I said Hidden Abilities, not abilities as a whole. The ones which are perceived as more desirable. Also, I don't care too much for natures either, if that matters.

Hidden abilities are just an extra ability, they're only more desirable if they're actually better. Being hidden or not doesn't make a difference they're still one of the abilities you can have, and abilities matter. Abilities > Natures > EVs > IVs in terms of importance.

It's not just a play style if it makes your pokemon objectively weaker all around. You can use whatever pokemon you want but if you don't care about IVs, EVs, Natures or anything then it's going to be weaker than it should be.
