Serena is nothing like misty, not bitchy and not even experienced in well, anything. She saw Ash on TV and wanted to see him again. Now it's assumed that she's going to find something that she strives for, certainly isn't battling.
Clemont and his little sister are nothing like Brock Tracey or that green haired guy. Clemont is pretty incompetent and we don't really know much about him yet other than he's a gym leader.
Ash right now seems like he's himself from Sinnoh, which is good considering that was his peak so far. Unova was just "UR SUCH A KID ASH" and fucking retardation between Ash himself and his unevolved Unova trashmons.
Ash in XY is running the "mentor/protector" feel when he's got all these noobs under him. Just watch episode 8 and 9. He saves Serena like 5 times.
But overall Ash WILL get a Talonflame and Greninja because they only give him popular pokemon in the anime. There's no way in hell they're not fully evolving them. Kids love greninja and talonflame.
