Probably. The United states was founded by a bunch of people everyone hated because they were batshit crazy religious jackasses. That behavior is a tradition that carries to this day.

The taliban also banned pokemon back in the day for this reason too I vaguely recall.

Me too. they didn't really "ban" them, or were pretty about it outside of school hours, but they would post pokemon/yugioh/harry potter's connections to satan and all that on the bulletin boards.

I once visited a catholic school around the same time, whole place was SWARMING with pokemon players. This was still during the peak of its popularity...also this was after school hours

My parents almost made me stop playing Pok?mon as a kid, because my friend's parents tried to convince them it was evil.

Pok?mon cards were banned in my elementary school, but only because somebody's parents complained because some kid duped their dumbass kid out of a good one.

growing up i eventually became agnostic, but my encounter with them is the very first time i ever heard anything about pokemon being "evil". sometimes i also like to make satanic references to shock some religious people who always end up trying to convert me at work/school or whatever.

ex: at my work once

case by case, probably dependant on location too. I went to a catholic school for 9 years, although only 4 of them were post-pokemon release (RBY), and the teachers only cared that we were playing with our game boy's after lunch. Also a Roman Catholic school is way less strict religiously I think than say a Baptist school, since most Roman Catholic's are usually lazy(just pretend to care on the weekends, for some supposed salvation they think half assing it will earn them).
