I was having a similar argument with some people on Showdown. Iwas discussing my VGC team, and they flipped their shit when I said I had Focus Blast on my MegaZard Y. They said "You should be using HP Fighting or Ground, so you can deal with Heatran" or "lol, good luck missing"

I was talking to someone at school who told me his favorite type was Ice because they were all really fast and hit really hard. Disregarding the fact that this is beyond wrong, someone commented that they had a lot of weaknesses and he said it didn't matter because they'd always KO the opposing Pokemon before they got hit. I called him out on it and he asked me to name a Pokemon that could beat an Ice type. "Terrakion? Infernape?". Everyone in the hall proceeded to bust into laughter. "TERRAKION? WHAT IS THAT THE TOURETTES POKEMON?!"

I was talking to my friend a couple of days ago about how Gen 6 has been great for some of the weaker and lesser used Pokemon, like Exploud and Quagsire even though he got buffed by Gen 5 and then he started talking about how they were plain overpowered and that competetive had gotten "too easy." He said he liked it better when the strong were strong and the weak could just go fuck themselves, when EV training and breeding were "for the pros," and when strength was based solely on whether or not you were at level 100. Keep in mind that this same guy made a "competitive" team on Colosseum some time ago with a fucking Minun that had 3 Electric moves. I'm not going to talk Pokemon with him again. His ignorance is fucking grating.

Once a hot chick in my class starts asking "What's the Pokemon that is all red and blue? I can't remember its name"
So I told her it was called Porygon.
Turns out the bullies heard me and they, along with the chick, called me "Pikachu" for a year straight. I was extremely depressed and became even more unsociable through that year. Now it all settled down but I haven't mentioned Pokemon IRL since.

I have news for you most of /vp/ is pretty competent when it comes to competitive. but for one reason or another has grown tired of smogons meta everyone does eventually its not surprising really and honestly stops caring. and just uses pokemon they like because they enjoy it more that the 15 or so copy paste smogon mons

Aerial Ace, Choice Band, and a hell of a lot of luck since a crit Aerial Ace isn't a guaranteed OHKO even if you run Adamant. Otherwise, it'd need to have set up Swords Dance at some point and have a Life Orb.
