Why they have been non access-able for the past few weeks ? Still problems with that cheating program ? Or did they just shut it down till some specific date?

It's down because someone developed a program akin to instacheck that could tell you what move the opponent was about to use.

While Nintendo/GF haven't specifically said this was why, the length of time it has been disabled points to this.
And while fuck the guy who made this, why was this even possible? I don't know a lot about server type stuff, but wouldn't it make more sense not to send the teams to the opponent's 3ds and make battles happen on a server?

They literally sending every little bit of battle data unencrypted, so it was incredibly easy to read the data as it was transmitted.

Considering that GTS data is encrypted I don't know why the hell they didn't do that for more important stuff. Plus there is no way they needed to be sending entire movesets and actions before the match/turn takes place.

Ok sorry I said made the hack, but if you read the second sentence you would have realized I knew that the only reason that program was possible was due to a fuck up by gamefreak.
