At what point should I stop IV training?

4 IVs?

If the Pokemon doesn't use Sp Att for example, you don't need 6. Just get everything but Sp Att.

Ideally you want everything perfect except Sp. Atk if it's a physical attacker, everything perfect except 0 Atk if it's a special attacker (minimized foul play damage), and all perfect if it's a mixed attacker.

Max IV's are pointless due to hindering nature. Go for 5iv, It's not hard, it just takes a little effort and you feel better about it in the long run

You don't have to worry about special attack assuming you're running a common set which uses only physical moves.

It depends on the pokemon, like for example a Chansey. You only need 4 max IVs for it since it has a really bad Atk and Sp.Atk base stats. So there really is no point to have IVs on those.

You're not necessarily boned, just at a slight disadvantage. If you've got two 4 IV parents then you should be able to get a 5 IV in 2 or 3 egg batches.

if your using a hybrid you get a 6iv one with a neutral nature
if you want a 10% lose and gain nature then normally u go for 5ivs
in certain cases 4 ivs are an option if its like a trick room user
that is if you want to win competitively.
