>>16594772Platinum was a step down from D/P. The only improvement it made was fixing the availability of Pokemon in Sinnoh.
However, it ruined the plot. Everything converged as a tryhard attempt to build up to the Distortion World. Such as the beginning. In D/P, you and Barry get attacked by Starly, forcing you to use pokemon and forcing you into the role of Pokemon trainer, as Prof. Rowan was reluctant to give you pokemon in the first place. In Platinum, Rowan just gives you pokemon for no reason and the Starly scene was replaced by you bumping into Cyrus so that he could spout 2 lines of nonsensical forced forshadowing.
As well, Platinum solidified a straight linear path through cities that you were forced to take, while D/P had points when you could diverge how you liked. As well, in D/P, Sinnoh was peppered with lots of places for you to explore and stumble upon, while in Platinum they were shoved in your face and sometimes even forced on you, removing the exploration aspect, like with Iron Island or the Old Chateau.
Thirdly, Platinum is a casualized version of D/P where all the levels are babby mode and the whole thing is piss easy.
There's more but I've lost interest in typing all this shit out.
