I hope a small sliver of hope that in a future game Mega Evolutions for Pokemon that have less than three evolutions in their family will become permanent, thanks to "Science" or something that would explain it

Access to Freeze-Dry was nice but an evolution would be better. A slight increase to Sp.Atk and his defenses would do wonders. Maybe a new ability too though Lapras' current three are pretty good as is.

Part of the reason Megas are a thing is because of the anal devastation the cross gen Evolutions in 4 caused. Now you can power up your bro without them becoming a different Pokemon and if you hate the new design they'll still be in their original design outside of battle. Also cross-gen evolutions aren't going to happen anymore.

Because Game Freak had the opportunity to do that just recently, so I'd say they're just not going to do anything for Ice type. Not like they'd do cross-gen evolutions again either, but I still think that's more likely than changing type effectiveness.

Cross gen evos tend to suck massive cocks design-wise. I would generally rather just have stat boosts on the normal Pokemon or "side-grade" evolutions like Scizor and Porygon-Z, so the old Pokemon can still be somewhat viable with an eviolite.
