The last gen I played was gen 3, so I'm still learning all the mons.

I just figured out garchomp doesn't come from sharpedo, and alomomola doesn't evolve from luvdsic.

Garchamp was actually initially meant to evolve from sharpedo, however they changed it but it's design still hold some reminders of it.
With alomomola and bouffalant, it's just some retarded idea that no gen 5 pokemons would evolve from previous ones.

I can understand alomomola being confusing (it's not related to luvdisc because they wanted all the new Pokemon not to be from Pokejapan, BW made you use nothing but new Pokemon and was set in PokeMurica), but Garchomp? Did you not see Gible or Gabite?

Why would Bouffalant need to evolve from Tauros? Anyway, we had a whole bunch of added evos in Gen IV, it's understandable that they wouldn't want to have more for the next Gen.
