So for the Wi-Fi fags here, Smogon banning Gengarite and Kangaskhanite doesn't affect us. How do you feel about their legality on Wi-Fi?

Specifically, how do you think you'll deal with PerishTrapping/Parental Bond Seismic Toss once it's available?

This is NOT a thread to discuss Smogon's bans, this is for Wi-Fi, which will go to shit really quickly because people are idiots here.

This thread is gonna probably get bombed in a couple seconds by The Cult of Smogon, but honestly, I think they're okay. I feel mega gengar is a bit on the strong side, but since you have team preview, you can work around it if you have a good team comp. I've got a special wall for all occasions, I'll just make him fight goodra. Dazling Gleam won't OHKO goodra with an assault vest, might not even 2HKO.

There's also infiltrator, talonflame, tricksters, Wobbuffet, pursuit (for when he subs+megas and switches next turn) lots of other things I can't think of at the moment.

Kangaskhan is pretty strong too, but he's not even close to being unbeatable.

Megas are SUPPOSED to be overpowered compared to regular non-mega pokemon, that's the whole goddamn point of having a mega to begin with. The fact that so many people complain that their non-megas can't go blow-for-blow against a mega is pretty dumb if you ask me.

Yeah this thread will go to shit pretty quickly.

M-Gengar is pretty easy to deal with, it's not got good bulk so it won't last long. Worried about Perish trapping though, that could be horrible in Doubles.

M-Khan is more annoying to deal with, but my Trevenant walls it pretty good as long as it doesn't have Crunch. Worried even more about Seismic Toss though, that's just far too OP.

scaled down to 50 then it'll be a 100 dmg move (75 if baby khan is once again scaled to half)

Basically this thing will hit hard as fuck and you can't resist seismic unless you're a ghost

I've literally never seen Gengar on wifi after the first two weeks of the game being out. I assume its usage will go back up when Perishtrapping is available though

Parental Toss is legitimately terrifying though, even at level 50. At 50 and 100 both, isn't Chansey/Blissey the only non-ghost that isn't 2HKO'd by it?

200 damage is a guaranteed 2HKO on most things, on anything not HP invested below 128 base HP, and on anything fully HP invested below 98 base HP, ignoring any stat boosts or drops or type resistances.

Gengar is garbage without Levitate. Yes, it hits like a truck, but it's also OHKO'd by a light breeze.

Try playing in Doubles some time. Switching to a counter doesn't matter so much when at least one of your two Pokemon carries Earthquake or is named Aegislash.

Another option is its old nemesis, Mega Alakazam, if you're the sort who enjoys drinking genwunner tears from a chalice carved out of a Game Boy Color, and let's be honest, who doesn't?

Four attacks M-Gengar, which I see the most of now, is pretty easy to deal with.

Very much scares me.

This thing is bulkier than Celebi and with better typing, can support the team with Wish, all while 2HKOing damn near everything.

And the standard PuP set isn't too bad, either.

I was doing lvl 100 numbers, yeah I guess 95 is safe at lvl 50. I think EV's are different with level 50 and level 100.

a fully invested base 95 is 394 HP at lvl 100.

That's a good point about Fake Out being common, but the fact is you just made up a team that just so happened to be the perfect counter to Alakazam.

They're megas, but to Smogon and Pokemon Online that title is as relevant as Legendary. Khan and Gengar are ridiculously powerful, and most of the other megas have distinct weaknesses and shortcoming that prevents them from being ban-worthy.

Because, outside of stopping sweeps from Mega Milf, Mawile and other things that rely on their ability, it really can't do much else. When their ability is gone they'll just switch to just about any special attacker because Cofag's special bulk is pretty lacking.

Mega Medicham can't switch into any of Khan's attacks and then survive a +2 Sucker (if it switched into a PuP) or a +0 Sucker (if it switched into a Return or a coverage move.) So it's not a counter. Furthermore, it has a speed tie with her.

Mega Medicham's HJK is the one, singular most powerful unboosted attack in the entire game, and yes it can easily OHKO Mega mom and then some. But Medicham can't switch in and KO back.

Right now, the Muskateer hoerses, Mega Lucario (if it's already mega evolved), and a couple other fighting types are the only checks, not even counters.

Mega Meditite is pretty much my one-stop shop for dealing with Kangaskhan. Seismic Toss won't mean shit if it's dead in one turn.

As for Gengar, my only hope is to try and find a good dark/ghost/ground(earthquake)-type before then. I'm still working on optimizing my team.

There's a lot worse shit in Wifi games than those that Smogon didn't even think twice before banning. On the other hand, Wifi bans stuff like Phione, Meloetta, Mew, Celebi, etc, despite the fact that they are even easier to deal with.

if they wanted that, they should have banned trio members too. 5IV Terrakion, Thundurus, Landorus, etc. are just as hard to get as 5IV Kyurem and it's much more potent in battle.

i've read a few Rocky Helmet Ferrothorns, which I am about to breed and it wouldn't need to be in my team at all if it weren't for kahn

Rocky Helmet Ferrothorn is either 2HKO'd or OHKO'd by Fire Blast, which people have started running on Jolly Kanga.

Alternatively, Kanga OHKOs it with Fire Punch and takes 54% damage.

That doesn't make them not centralizing when you want a diverse metagame. Sure, you can counter evasion, but then all you see is evasion and counter-evasion. Its boring as shit and no one wants to play like that.

Nothing counters it. Straight up nothing can safely switch in with the single exception of Sableye sometimes. The best you can hope for is letting it kill one of yours then revenge killing it. Or a lucky sableye WoW.

There are a few checks, but most of them require you to sacrifice a pokemon, either rockyhelm ferr of skaramory or a something with a strong priority move or fast WoW to kill it after it kills you.

That's the main reason he and M-Gengar are getting banned. They can be basically summed up as "Delete a Pokemon from the other guys team." except Kang then can go on to sweep with OHKO or 2HKO 90% of pokemon in the game
